Make sure the keg is cold! There's going to be a party!,

Beau Jocque and the Zydeco Hi-Rollers have just about packaged on one disc, everything but the beverages for a great party. This disc explains in layman's terms why you should like zydeco. Last time I played this disc at a party the local police came and turned in their badges and started to boogie. Beau Jocque makes you want to dance even if you're the type that needs to be drunk at a wedding with an open bar! Great Rythms, and an accordian which screams love me louder than the poster of The Accordian King on that poor kid's wall in the movie Fargo! If you have a shaker on hand you'll want to join in.. this c.d.'s shows you why zydeco is so much fun!

This is the first zydeco CD I ever purchased after seeing Beau Jocque and his band perform on Jay Leno. I was not disappointed in the least. It's high energy, his band is one of the most tightly woven groups I've ever heard, particularly his bass player, who plays some of the stankest, fonkiest bass ever. This CD will make you dance like an idiot, non-stop. It even got me through the graveyard shift doing data entry at a bank. Just put it on repeat and get ready to boogie. Even if you don't dance, you'll tap your feet, snap your fingers, bob your head, find something to shake or scratch. I must admit I rode around with a tambourine in my car, shakin' it like a fool while sitting in traffic. Go get this one. You'll love it.

"Git It, Beau Jocque" is almost indescribably good music. It isn't that polite, lightweight zydeco you see in some movies and hear on some CDs. This is gut bustin high energy zydeco with an electric bass line that never quits - powerful and compelling all at once. Bass and accordion driven music of such intensity and life you wonder how they could POSSIBLY survive a whole set. I have several other B.J. CDs that are very good, probably 4-stars, but "Git It..." is something special. This is an incredible document of an amazing music performance - a treasure.

Recently moved to Lafayette, Louisiana. I thought I knew a little bit about Zydeco before I got here, but quickly figured out I didn't know that much at all. I mean, if I had, I would certainly have had this record in my collection a very long time ago. Simply put, this is one rollicking good time. Don't play this if you don't want a party to spontaneously erupt.
Shaggy Dog Two Step is worth the price of the album alone. It is overflowing with energy, humor, and above all, an incredibly high level of musicianship from an absolutely amazing band. The amount of energy bursting forth from this group is enough to place this album in the company of The Who's Live at Leeds and Sonny Landreth's Grant Street as the most incandescent live recordings of any kind. An essential album.

Beau Jocque packs into this classic masterpiece of Zydeco perfection a metric ton of energy and creative acoustical vibrancy. If you've ever been moved by or charmed by the slightest hint of zydeco music, this cd is a must have for your collection. A solid but fluctuating and wildly captivating rhythm sets the foundation upon which Jocque's powerful accordion and lyrics meld beautifully to create a powerhouse of energy. This collection of songs delivers! All the best parts of upbeat blues are combined with rich Zydeco tones resulting in something that simply can't be listened to sitting or standing still. If you don't dance, you will.. if you do dance, you'll dance until you drop.

Will Blow Your Walls Down!,

Having been taken downtown with enthusiasm for Beau Jocque, I headed down to Columbus (uh, actually it was to Dublin, not to downtown Columbus... ) and picked up his live CD from 1995, Git It, Beau Jocque!. If you think Live at Leeds is a high-energy live recording, you ain't heard nuthin' yet! One of the most fun experiences I had all summer was the evening the family left me home by myself and I cranked this thing up on the Legacies--louder than I have ever played the things. It was like being in a small club, and of course my feet started moving. With Beau Jocque wailing on the accordion while being encouraged to "crank it up!" by drummer "Skeeta" Charlot, plus rubboard, bass, and two guitars all getting into the act, these guys put on a show that will blow your walls right down. Wow!
Although this is not an audiophile-grade recording, it still sounds good, and can be played loud without sounding harsh if your system is up to it. All I can say is that when it comes to Beau Jocque and the Zydeco Hi-Rollers, you'd better run right out and Git It!

The incredible driving rhythm of Beau Jocque's unique electric zydeco overlaid by his one-of-a-kind voice is a joy that ended far too soon.

I never got to see Beau Jocque live and I'm sad because I found his music a few weeks ago.
I really like Jocque's style of zydeco and plan to buy more from him even though it would be tough to beat this good sounding live recording. It has a free form flow to it that I love and a tad over one hour of happy jamming music. If you like non traditional zydeco, you'll love this recording too.

Did ya git it?!?!,

I picked up this CD in 96 after listening to a few seconds of just a few songs. It got me rockin instantly. A few months later on a trip to NOLA I just happened to pick up a paper to see where to go and there was Beau Jocque playing at the Rock and Bowl(I think thats what it was called). They rocked that place so hard the floor was buckling! This CD is the next best thing to seeing him live(if you were lucky enough). Any guy who can make a rocker out of raffle ticket numbers and licence plate numbers is number 1 in my book.
