5.0 out of 5 stars Ben Tankard's Style
Ben's music is divine. It's very inspired and really is in a unique new category he's created called, inspirational jazz. I love the smooth jazz flavor and the simply inspired and worshipful lyrics. The style of music is wonderful and each CD has diverse music that's appropriate for any occasion or mood (skating, playing, reflecting, entertaining, working, traveling,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not My Favorite
I love Ben Tankard but this was not my favorite CD. There are great songs on it but I'm not happy with it as much as others. I would not start with this CD. Play Me In Your Key has been my favorite.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't have this CD, go out n' git yo own!!!!!!, October 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Git Yo Prayze on (Audio CD)
This is the first CD I've purchased from Ben Tankard, and it is very, very good. Check out my favs: "Spend Some Time With Me", "7-Dayze w/out Prayer", and the short and sweet tracks # 8 and 12. The jazzy contemporary feel puts you in a rhythmic mode for praising God. I've had this CD for some time, and just recently started to listen to it again, (the music will never git old) much love to the original Gosplejazz pioneer.

Well I thought this CD was certainly uplifting. It showed me another perspective of music and it was just something different. I mean "Spend some time with me and Git yo Prayze on" was bangin and just all the tracks had some kind of jazz feel and thats what I like. This is something fo da young folks and I being young, love it so go out and buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars He's Ben-Jamin'... A Bit More Than The Previous Releases!, November 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Git Yo Prayze on (Audio CD)
Now, I can't say much about this exceptionally nice, sort of veering towards another musical direction, kind of album... except that I've had mixed reactions to it. To start, on a negative note, the songs I didn't rank at the top either were just too saccharine or I just didn't like Cassandra Robertson's vocals too favorably. But on a more positive tip, I can't put 'Git Yo Praize On' in my Aiwa without playing "N-Da-Spirit" (cool beat), "Livin 4 U" (great vocals/melody), "We Ben-Jamin' (funk-laced jazz number), "Tribal Hymn" (intriguing african approach/rhythm), "My Testimony" (short, but sweet), and "If You Need Somebody" (love the vocals & the pianowork). "Caravan Of Love" didn't really grab me, because it is a remake from The Isley Bros, and I found it sort of sugary. Also "Spend Some Time With Me" is kind of heavily laced with Cassandra's vocals. Yet it isn't bad at all. None of the songs are bad, the lesser appealing ones are good when you're in the mood to give them full attention. Well, that's all. Please go purchase it (like I have to tell you that) You know what to do, I assume.

3.0 out of 5 stars I like his older stuff better., February 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Git Yo Prayze on (Audio CD)
Don't get me wrong, this is a good album. "Sing for the children" will bring tears to your eyes. and "Spend some time with me" is a beautiful song. I just happen to like some of his older stuff a little better. He is still a musical genius and this album is still good. This album wont discourage me from picking up his next set.
