This review is from: Gitzo G1578L Studex Monopod (Electronics)
For some reason, silly perhaps, I was comparing this product with Manfrotto 695 monopod. Although Manfrotto 695 is more compact and smaller, Gitzo G1578L is way sturdier! It also has a more solid construction than Manfrotto's. Definitely a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gitzo Carbon Fiber G1578L Monopod is simply the best., July 22, 2006
This review is from: Gitzo G1578L Studex Monopod (Electronics)
The Gitzo MonoTrek Mountaineer Mk2 G1758L Monopod is absolutely the best one can buy--and it's absolutely worth the money.

I chose this over the Gitzo Tele Studex monopod not because of the $50 difference in price but because it extended to 78" compared to only 55" for the Studex. The Tele Studex does hold more weight (about 50% more), but more designed for heavier video equipment or 35mm SLR/DSLR's with very heavy lenses. For my needs, the weight-bearing amount along with the 77" height made it my choice for everyday use.

It's costly compared top Velbon's, Slik and other similar monopods, but you get what you pay for.
