I have just had this ball head for a few weeks and it is worth every dime, though it is not without a small problem. First, it is extremely light, with my 3 lb. tripod I have no problem bringing them everywhere my camera goes. Where this head especially excels is with my macro photography. When I tighten the grip my camera does not budge from its position. I can easily move from landscape to portrait. It is very convenient to have the levels for any direction needed. It is very good for panoramas, as well.
The biggest problem I have is when I take my camera off the head with the quick release plate still on the camera the lever which tightens the plate when it is in place cannot be properly tightened.
If you are looking for a very good ballhead under $300 this is the one to get.
