I used this for a Nikkor 200-400mm VR. Worked great with a RRS mount on it. Yes there are some that are a little more stable(but they are bigger and heavyer, cost more), this one did suit my needs just fine.

I bought this for travel photography, where I didn't want to lug around a tripod. I just used this on a trip to Wales, where we did a lot of walking along the coast, visited churches and castles etc. It worked out really well, since it also doubled as a walking stick and was really quick to set up.The monopod is really light, and the lock system is really easier to operate since you can unlock or lock all sections at once. The height is pretty good too - with a head on there, it should be fine for anyone of average height (I'm 6 feet tall). My only (minor) issue is that the mounting collar seems to come loose a little too easily.

I needed a monopod for travel and venues where tripods are prohibited. This one is at the top of the heap in terms of load capacity, size and construction. I couldn't be more pleased with it.

Gitzo, what else do I need to say. Very light, very quick and positive adjustment.

What an excellent tripod. Fits my Canon 50D w 100-400 F5.6L lens very well. Super stable and exceptionally light. I prefer the twist lock for the pod extensions (personal preference). Very pleased with my purchase.
