another winner from Lucado,
By
This review is from: Give It All to Him (Paperback)
Have you allowed some trash to accumulate in your life? Are you carrying the weight of past or present hurts, anxiety, anger, lust, guilt, greed? We allow small fragments of mental trash to clutter our lives until we are carrying around sacks of it. We can't quite explain how it all got there, and aren't quite sure how to get rid of it.Based on one of the stories from Next Door Savior, here Lucado expands the story by dividing it into several scenes and weaving powerful lessons into each section. It is a beautiful story of how God's grace allows us to "take out the trash" by giving the burden to Jesus. What makes this story truly effective is that it does much more than advise the reader to "give it to God" and leave it at that. It clearly illustrates the extent of Jesus' sacrifice for us. We aren't called to simply acknowledge our trash, then continue to drag it along with us. We are called to give our burden to Jesus, and to accept God's offer of a new beginning. If you are ready to take out the trash in your life, start by reading this little treasure. Larry Hehn, Author of Get the Prize: Nine Keys for a Life of Victory

Overcome Emotional Buildup,
By
This review is from: Give It All to Him (Paperback)
"Worry divides the mind," Lucado tells us on page 15. In fact the two words in the Bible for worry are "merizo" to divide and "nous" the mind. Combined, they become "merimnao" which means worry he tells us. Resentment is another negative emotion that he compares to cocaine because if its addictive nature. He points out that resentful people are in the habit of sharing their misery with everyone. His "Good Riddance" chapter explains the solution to toxic emotions, i.e., that Jesus Christ had those unhealthy elements annulled when His hands were nailed to the Cross. This chapter is so clear in making a case for how to receive God's abundant life promise. This book is a large does of encouragement in a small package.

This really hits the nail on the head. I didn't even realize there was a nail.,

While small, it's perfect. I had no idea it would be the description of my life. The garbage I've been carrying around and didn't even realize. This was put in such an easy to understand and perfect way. I'm buying more to give as gifts, not because friends are in bad places, but just because anyone can use this no matter where they are!

Give it all to Him is a small, easy and VERY POWERFUL book! I highly recommend this book to any Christian struggling with an obstacle or burden in their life. Max Lucado's use of imagery just makes the picture jump off the page. You begin to see yourself in the story he is sharing. For those who are not saved, this book shares Gods amazing grace and mercy. It explains the price Jesus paid and the everlasing life and eternal love we have with him. I just cant think of another word other then WOW! It is an amazing and simple read. I will hang on to this book and re-read it time and time again. One of the best I have read in quite a while. VERY good.

This is the story of salvation but presented in a different way. People like me have heard the story so many times that I have become desensitized to it. It does not connect with my heart. This nailed my heart and blew me away with God's love and the cost of his sacrifice.
Daily I stagger under the load of garbage I am dragging behind me. Years of it have crippled me and sucked all the joy out of life. Every day is a blur of never ending pain and despair. Till one day a trash man appears who says I was not designed to carry this load and he promises to take it away forever if I am willing to hand it over and let him have it. Very effective delivery of an age old message. Sweet story.

Max Lacado writes so that everyone can understand. This book helps to show you that we are carrying "trash" around that we don't have to. It really helps when you are struggling to live the Christian life. It's a little book that packs a powerful punch.

This is an excellent book. It is quick and easy to read taking me only hours. It would be an excellent book for someone struggling with regrets, sin or depression. It would also be an excellent book for someone that has no faith.
Our sin as trash, Christ puts the trash on himself. Our burden gone. |
