WOW! This is probably the best blend I have ever heard out of the Gaither Vocal Band. Wes Hampton isn't a power tenor like David Phelps, but his voice fills the role very well (Especially on "I'll Tell It Wherever I Go"). The sound is very different than past Vocal Bands, but will not be disappointing.

refreshing,
This review is from: Give It Away (Audio CD)
Two new voices, many different styles, and, Heavens to Betsy, I could actually hear Bill Gaither singing the bass part. This album is a lot different from the monster tenor solos and almost invisible bass part like past albums. This revamped GVB features the BEST blend I have ever heard from this group. Marshall Hall is a true baritone with a great range, and Wes Hampton brings a 'Sam Cooke smootheness' to the group(especially on I'll Tell It Wherever I Go) and he brings the harmony to life. Overall, this album is refreshing in style and message and it is one for the ages.

Many excellent songs,

I was very pleased with this CD. I bought it soon after seeing the Gaither Vocal Band in person at one of their Homecoming concerts where they had performed many of these songs. I believe that this is the first studio CD to include the newcomers, Wes Hampton (tenor) and Marshall Hall (baritone) and I agree with another reviewer that Hampton is an adequate replacement for David Phelps; not many could match the strength of Phelps' voice, making him a hard act to follow. But I have been impressed by the strength and quality of Marshall Hall's voice -- he blends well in the group's harmonies but he excels when he has a solo. I especially like "Child Forgiven" and "Give It Away" but there are 7 or 8 of these songs that I have put on the "favorites" list in my Ipod. Excellent, excellent CD!

Solid album for GVB,

Although I'm only just over 20, I've been a fan of GVB for years. I own several records and this album is also very good. Many good songs and vocal performances. Even though I miss David Phelps, I must admit that the replacements are doing a good job. If you like GVB, no reason to wait!

WOW, I absolutely love this CD! Along with the Best of CD's 1 and 2...they have been playing around this house for days. I both love and sing all harmony parts...finding the wonderful 'inbetween' notes (that I hear naturally) and the awesome, inspiring slides...etc...is just 'music to my ears' and heart. If you are going through some of lifes toughest times (as am I) I encourage you to buy this CD on that merit alone!! So refreshing a message and so well delivered. I was able to listen to the 03/22/06 taping of the DVD and it too was such a blessing. All the 4 in this group are shining examples of Christian ambassadors and the enthusiasm, profesional, and fun way they deliver each song is truely a winner. They are showman yet there is a total sense of sincerety. Have I shared enough? Hey, I could go on and on...happy tunes and God Bless you.

This new CD brings more Southern gospel music into the melodies; I like it! It is moving, yet some of the songs have you jumping in your seat. I would recommend this to anyone; you would love it.

This is the very best to date that the Gaither Vocal Band has ever done! I was sceptical at first because I loved David Phelps, but when I heard Wes Hampton on this CD, I loved it!!He is great and he harmonizes so much better with the others! You need to buy it - I promise you won't be disappointed!!!!

Into vocals? This is for you...religion or not.,
This review is from: Give It Away (Audio CD)
This is a very strong vocal album. It's the tirst GVB album I have ever owned. I am, however, familiar with previous offerings. Verdict: no dropoff whatsoever. The songs are well produced, clean and crisp. The vocals are impeccable.Marshall Hall and Guy Penrod stand out but all the singers sing well. Of course, some songs are better than others. The same is true with any album. Christian, Muslim, Jew, anything else, or nothing at all..."Give it Away" is a great collection of vocals. Main stream vocalists would do well to emulate the four men who are the Gaither Vocal Band. Highlights: "Give it Away" "Jesus Loves Me" "I'll tell it Wherever I Go" "My Journey to the Sky" "Why Me"

Great inspirational music. Very upbeat and lively but reverent at the same time. Bill Gaither and his group continue to provide great music for their listeners.
