A modern Hardcore Classic,

I myself first became aquainted with Bane with album "The Note", which might I add is a killer album. After buying that and loving it I bought this masterpiece of a Hardcore album. I had to listen to it a few times before I apreciated the true beauty of this album. With Bane your getting Hardcore at it's finest, not metalcore. Lots of gang vocals and positive lyrics, it's not to fast, really heavy, or full of huge breakdowns, it's just really good hardcore.

Never have I been inspired by an album like this. First, if you don't like old school hardcore, then you shouldn't be reviewing this anyway. THe album is an awesome blend of old school a new styles. Couldn't have been done better. Ali vs. Fraiser is the most inspirational song of our time. Amazing.

Give it more (chances!),

It's Bane. It's the return of positive hardcore. In the wake of the metal-emo flood, and riding the crest of the inevitable backlash wave, is Bane from Massachussetts. Complete with numerous singalongs, pile-ons, plenty of opportunities to wave your finger in the air, and even a bit of no-apologies mosh parts thrown in, Give Blood is the next natural step for Bane. What I don't quite understand is the nearly across-the-board panning of this album by Bane fans - particularly when compared with their first outing, "Holding This Moment" (a collection of 7inches and such). The fact of the matter is, there is very little stylistic change from that album to Give Blood. The music - particularly the guitars - is a little thicker and layered. That's it. Everything else remains the same. So if you like Holding This Moment and haven't yet heard Give Blood, don't listen to the words around you. Give this record a good solid try. It won't disappoint. In fact, it just might become your favorite.

Yeah, this record and this band pretty much embody everything I love hardcore for. When I think of Bane, I think of sincerity. Give Blood is like a concept record about being on tour. Every song's lyrics address being on the road in a different way, each one more honest and direct than the last. "Ante Up"'s poker-as-a-metaphor-for-life theme is a favorite. They are kind of a celebration of hardcore old and new, and still know what's up insofar as it's about having fun and being different, not wearing camo shorts and "bringing the mosh".
The music is really interesting, there are never really any obvious breakdowns and the songwritings more developed than the old stuff. "Some Came Running" has a HUGE riff and a perfect bridge section. "Release the Hounds" is the sore thumb here, it's got a socal punk vibe. So... I could write more about this record but I'll let Aaron do the honors: how many more days will you sit and talk about your ambitions all that you can be the person you are dying to be the place you want to get to but always out of reach before that fury swells inside of you grows so big that it forever quiets you stand up to your demons make a run at your goliath find the best, find the worst waiting in both of you it's not the who or the what that is lasting but how you fight that is the fight the only mark that will not leave you and i will feel my heart drum its final beat if it meant that i have give this my all there's nothing left for me to believe in if not you, if not this... what else is there but death? (it's your call... it's all on you) give more give everything give blood

bane,is to my generation of hardcore kids, what sick of it all is to the late 80's early 90's hardcore kids. while i look to sick of it all as untouchable king pins of hardcore, bane are one of us. writing songs that hardcore kids(adults) my age (35ish) can relate to and sing-along to. this album is no exception, i could give a song by song description to back up this staement(sunsets and sunflowers) but just buy it. filled with sing-alongs,circle pit, and floor-punching goodness that any 90's hardcore kid loves. and being a bunch of great guys doesn't hurt. learn every song and hit up anywhere they play and start the finger point, then go home with a smile that won't leave your face for days.

From the first few seconds of hearing this album I could already see why this is everyone's favorite Bane album. It hits hard from the start and never lets up. This is just awesome, fast hardcore. Definitely worth the buy for the artwork and reading along with the great lyrics. Also a great place to start for someone checking out Bane. Support this band and see them live.

after hearing banes first ep, and their full length follow up, ive realized that they are one of the most unique bands out there. they have great lyrics with pulsating guitars and a great sounding drummer. but i think that their commitment on the 2nd album lowered their status in the hc scene. they redeemed themselves with 10 hardcore classics. this album is recomended along with give up the ghost's "backround music."

NEVER have I listened to a band with more poignant lyrics than BANE(98 mute maybe). After listening to their albums, I now know why they have such a rabid fan base(me being one of them). From start to finish is pure hardcore genius. The only problem I have with this band is that they don't tour in canada that often, which often puts me in the situation of travelling hundreds of miles to see a show, but holy [cow] is it worth it!!!! If you ever get the chance to see this band live, DO IT!!! You will never experience anything like it!!! IF I ever have kids they'll be listening to BANE from day one.
