i was lucky enough to see beau twice before he died. the first time was at the fabulous rock and bowl in new orleans, where he was staging yet another battle with boozoo chavis. imho, virtually all music (zydeco, blues, classical...) is best experienced live. beau was a big man with a big sound and a big voice. this cd comes as close as possible to capturing the intensity of his performances.

"Give Him Cornbread: Live" is a collection of some of the most fiery and exciting live performances by one of Zydeco's most fiery and exciting performers. The last recording of the late Beau Joques captures all of the energy and power of the passionate artist, seizing the listener with a series of fast and furious performances which cpature the spirit and power of Zydeco music.

I'd just like to say that the album is cool. It features original and traditional tracks which I think younger musicians should focus on. It keeps the Creole French in the music which is also a good feature on the album. I definitely have to give Beau Jocque his props. He was one of the greatest accordianists that ever lived. He name will definitely go down in History

whoah! this album ROCKS big time! i have played it twice a day since i got it. he sounds like a zydeco howlin' wolf. the band is just plain solid. plenty of nice guitar & funky bass. sad that beau has left us.
