Great state of the union for Punk in 2004, the Murphys and Ducky Boys to Rancid and Lars Fredrickson...play it loud, share with friends (and enemies)!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best One, August 13, 2005

This, in my opinion, is by far the best Give 'Em The Boot.

Less Reggae and Ska, which is OK by me. I like them, but I listen mostly to just hard rocking bands like the Unseen, Rancid, the Nekromantix, etc.

In my opinion, the only bad song is the one by the Transplants. Its the only one I quickly skip.

And it has the HorrorPops. And new punk-ish bands with lead females (or...any females, really) is good. Especially since we lost the Distillers...

its really good, followed closely by give em the boot 2.

give it a whirl. its cheap, and its Awesome

Any cd that packs 4x5 folded poster printed both sides in with the cd is automatically a winner especially when it's punk rock and the tasty reggae interspersed between them. It's like the classic blend on the lst BAD BRAINS album, Attitude, great punk, in their case blazing, and then solid reggae. I've never cared for sleepy reggae and this stuff, about 5 such songs here, are all substantial, not whispy. A compilation is very much about sampling what's on the label and there's not too much more disappointing than a weak or inconsistent comp. This one is high quality virtually every single song. The reggae songs are all thick and meaty, the punk songs punk out, not blazing intense killer stuff but strong, musical songs that you can listen to over the years. There's 2 songs that have tinges of gruff vocals or slight metal tinge but otherwise this stuff is amazingly consistent and of high quality. This is the first of this series I've heard. I bought 1 & 2 and on the strength of this and the Listen buttons bought 3 & 5 just now. I did the tape label Bad Compilation Tapes/Borderless Countries Tapes with 170 bands from 17 countries from 1981 to 1986 all HC. We knew when we made the comps that there was only one rule: never use weak songs. Hellcat delivers. It totally makes me want to hear more of my favorite groups on here, most of whom I've never heard before cuz the punk I know is typically before 1986 (yes, I'm old). I'm suddenly a fan of DROPKICK MURPHYS and will never miss them live cuz I love when a punk band includes non traditional instruments like they do. Upon further listening and if I'm not too busy livin' I hope to review this and all the others in this series song by song. Very impressive and I'm not easily impressed by punk made after the late 70's to mid 80's period. Thanks Hellcat.
