Editorial Reviews

The three-volume Give Your Body Up series is one of the most welcomed sets of late-'70s and early-'80s club music. Not only are the selections smart, including many shouldn't-be-forgotten singles that were only known well in the underground, but they're also regularly included in their full 12" versions -- rarely are the tracks presented in inferior three-to-four-minute radio edits. These discs might not be the best choice for those getting their feet wet with disco, but they help demonstrate how dance music had no problem thriving beneath the charts. Highlights from the third volume include Billy Nichols' "Give Your Body Up to the Music," Lenny Williams' "You Got Me Running," Linda Clifford's "Runaway Love," and Chaka Khan's "Clouds." -All Music Guide

5.0 out of 5 stars More than five stars.., June 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Give Your Body Up: Club Classics & House Foundations, Vol. 3 (Audio CD)
Anyone who has experienced the club scene (especially NYC) in the late 70's and early 80's must get this CD POST HASTE! I'm sitting here right now taking a trip down memory lane. The compilation of songs is PERFECT. That rarely happens. All of the selections are not only awesome but arranged well in their order. I seriously urge anyone who was growing up through that period (and enjoyed it) or who is curious about the club music to get this CD. Make no mistake, club/house music has a totally different flavor than your garden variety "disco".

First, get all 3 volumes, put 'em on your multi-disc cd player, then let these dancefloor gems do their thaaang... Can be played at a bbq on Memorial Day, July 4, Labour Day, etc... or while you're playing Twister (tangled up in a pretzel position while trying to grab that Bacardi & Coke that's waaaay on the other side of the mat ;) whatever... you get the idea. Your cooler friends will scream and shout when their favorite joints get those memories flooding back.
