Strong 'solo' effort from one of the mega pipers,

This release has a diversity that 'Out to An Other Side' lacked a bit of. Where that one tended to rely on orchestral treatments, the tracks here take different directions thanks to the various guest stars. Liam's piping is great, and he also plays some charming tin whistle. Highlights include Andy Irvine's vocal and mandolin playing on 'Over the Mountain,' Paul Broudy's vocal, mandolin and keyboards on 'Rocks of Bawn,' and the two contributions from Milladoiro. Love to hear some more of that Uillean and Gaita pipes combo!

It doesn't matter what your favourite style of music is. This is an essential addition to any collection unless you are one of those that doesn't actually like music at all! Every track on this is steeped in the joy of performing it and I defy anyone to listen with their legs still. There's a zip and a swagger and a pride in all these performances that is often missing from recordings, especially from classically orientated artistes.
I'm listening as I write this and I have to pause as the music takes over. There are no highlights here - every track is wonderful although the Galician tracks will surprise many who, Like I, had not heard this style before.

I had been laboring under the impression that I had some really good Irish pipe albums. Then a friend gave me this. Whoa! O'Flynn is fantastic. I can even tolerate the vocals, which I usually don't care for. So, if you love the pipes and don't have this, you are severely depriving yourself of the, IMO, absolute best.
