No Regrets,
By Katherine "Apparently I'm a Shopaholic" (Massachusetts/ Connecticut) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gives You Hell (MP3 Download)
Have you ever had a break up that wasn't "your fault?" A part of you wants to cry, but that other part wants to, you know... give the dumper hell. You "bump into" your ex at the bar, at a party, at school, at an office party, at the elderly home (whatever age bracket you're in) and you're thinking "Thank god I wore my sexy dress today- my make up is perfect and so are my shoes!... and now for the killer smile that shows how much of a mistake he made."
It's not necessarily that you'd actually WANT your ex back, but it is good to know that someone you once loved still has feelings for you in some small way. This song is one of its kind! Though I'm not really into the whole boys grow their hair out long phase that these poor kids are going through these days (no I don't understand why boys are painting their nails and wearing skinny jeans tighter than mine!), but I can definitely feel the power in this song, its catchy rhythm and its relation to how everyone who's anyone has felt at least once in their lives. Rock out to it, laugh at it, cry to it- it doesn't matter. It kicks [major behind]!

The All-American Rejects Don't Have A Dirty Little Secret, They Just Want To Give You Hell,
By
This review is from: Gives You Hell (MP3 Download)
Silently propelling through the muddled pop punk genre, with hits like "Swing Swing," and the breakout "Dirty Little Secret," AAR has returned, and after a little lull, they've come back to give you hell, or their girlfriend hell at least... Well, maybe it's just me, but I was totally confused about the lyrics, as he wants to give his girlfriend hell, and he's lying about something, which makes you question his motives and what he says all-together.
Confusing lyrics aside, the song is a great arena rocker in the style of Fall Out Boy, causing you to pump fists, and join in with the chorus. It's rather catchy, and although the verses are a bit lackluster, the chorus brings home the money. Overall, I'd call it worthy of the band's catalog, and it's certainly one of their best. It seems they're going after Fall Out Boy's audience, so expect some friendly competition, or sound-alikes in the future. But for now, Real Score: 4.5

There is no doubt about the fact that this past year, there really haven't been many good songs that were released. But, there always are a few surprises that come out when you least expect it. That has been the case with All-American Rejects. They have had a few ahockers with Dirty Little Secret to name as a example. For their latest single, gives You Hell, it wasn't really interesting at first, but after a few listens, it is surprisingly catchy. I really hope that they can come out with more interesting songs like this one soon. But when it comes down to it, it doesn't really give you hell, but gives you a sense of pleasure.
Song: B-

One helluva song,

The All-American Rejects are the emo band beloved of fangirls everywhere. Their "poor me" songs are their genre. It's no wonder that in the infamous Harry Potter fanfiction "My Immortal",the heroine (who also happens to be Draco Malfoy's girlfriend) wears an All-American Rejects t-shirt after emerging from her personal coffin and drinking blood.
"Gives you Hell" is one hellish song, dammit. It's all about a breakup, and the singer sings of how his smile "gives Hell" to his ex. He's annoying and petulant. It works as background music, probably for Hot Topic. It best accompanies TWILIGHT memorabilia, black corsets and white lipstick. It fits the emo mentality. This All-American Rejects song deserves to be rejected!

This is just pathetic,
This review is from: Gives You Hell (MP3 Download)
My 13 year old sister is obssesed with aar, so i was kinda curios to kno what she sees so appealing about these guys. I just dont get it and dont want too. Aar plays wussy and whiny music for people who are less then 16 years old, if your older and likes aar, then your just a weirdo and needs help. This is a Pathetic excuse for a band. I just dont understand or see whats so great about dudes who dress like girls, sound like girls, play like girls, wear their jeans like they borrowed from their sisters. Can some one help me comprehand ?????? Maiby i just dont get this new trend of some dudes wearing clothe that look like it belongs toa little girl. Makes me sick
