More About the Author

Carole Lewis is the national director of First Place 4 Health, the Christ-centered healthy living program. A member of the original First Place group that began in 1981, she has seen the program grow from 12 groups in one church to thousands of members at more than 12,000 churches throughout the nation and in many foreign countries.

When Carole attended the First Place orientation in March 1981, she was unsure of where God was leading, but knew she needed to make some lifestyle changes. A chance meeting with a friend from her past gave Carole the impetus to determine she did not want to be 'fat and 40.' She joined a First Place group and soon lost 20 pounds. Learning how to bring balance to her life motivated her to become a First Place leader to encourage others to achieve their goals.

Carole became the national director of First Place in 1987, and is now a popular speaker and author of eleven books. Carole leads conferences, Christian spas, workshops and seminars with an emphasis on personal and spiritual balance, fitness, encouragement and temperament analysis. Her audiences know her as warm, transparent, honest and humorous.

Carole and her husband, Johnny, have three children (one deceased) eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. They live in Houston, Texas.

This was the PERFECT study guide for my first, First Place 4 Health (FP4H) class I joined last November. Just what I needed for my own personal growth. Helped me with giving Christ complete control of my life. Very positive and encouraging! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great study guide. It would be best as a daily guide, but you could read/study through at your own pace. Each day starts with a simple one or two line prayer and then gives great texts and promises for allowing Christ to have Control in your life. Each day's study also ends with a simple prayer.

This book was a great way for me to get back into the habit of spending time with Christ every day and letting Him take control of my life!

I cannot say enough good things about this book! It was like it was written especially for me!

A MUST for anyone in a FP4H class!

Carole Lewis's challenge to "give God a year" has truly inspired me this year. I think we too often start out to meet goals, especially health-related goals, then give up way too soon. It takes time to build a habit pattern -- we must persevere, build consistency, learn what works and what doesn't. Carole offers other practical advice as well that I have taken into my everyday life -- "Do the next right thing," for example. She is refreshingly transparent in sharing her own story.

Give God a Year is a scripture-based approach to disciplined eating and disciplined living. I've found some other books helpful, but this one has given me fresh inspiration for 2010.

While it is true that this does not break new ground and does not get too deep, it does a very good job at bringing the focus back to Christ and putting Him first. This is the first FP4H bible study that I have done and I find it very easy to follow and relate to my life. The enclosed CD with the memory verses makes it so much easier to memorize the weekly verse! I have found myself singing or humming the tune to the first one, Psalms 51:12. I am definitely looking forward to more in the series.

My group was starting in just a couple of days so I ordered this overnight delivery. It arrived by 11 am the next day! Good service!
