Package contains a PAIR of adjusters.
With the low cost, I suspected incorrectly that it was a single adjuster.
Yes for $5 you do get a pair of adjusters

Small enought to use on a John Deere D140 tractor/snowblower

UPDATE JAN 28, 2016
I came back to do a re-purchase.
I am not sure why the title says "for passenger"
I found my adjuster from before and did not repurchase.
AMAZON needs to remove the word Passenger if these are really for a garden tractor.

TIP if you bought these for a passenger car and they are too small then simply use four hooks instead of five hooks

Does the job, and some tire chains (the cheaper 30 dollar ones) can benefit from using one of these. Why some chains don't call for it doesn't make sense, as there is no tensioner in the cheaper wire cable chains. In fact, my chains which are over 12 years old, actually tell you to go get a pair of tensioner (not included!). Before you use them however, you should do the following:

Take a pair of pliers, and bend the s hook tighter on the rubber side. This will prevent it from falling off.

Pre stretch at home. This is not high quality rubber, but it will do the job. With that said, the elasticity of these aren't at their full capacity until you pre stretch it from its molded shape. You can stretch it by just pulling on it, but unless your very strong, its not worth the effort.

instead, just hold it between your two hands closely together, and just pull. It will have a little give, and you work your way around and stretch it out. Once this is done, you can see that you can stretch the whole thing. You'll thank me later

When I bought the chains I got them without an ADJUSTER. When I finally was heading for the mountains and the real prospect of using them I saw a review. That review said that adjusters where a MUST. I ordered the adjusters before I went and I can tell you that to be safe YOU MUST HAVE ADJUSTERS and these worked as advertized. I am very glad that I bought them.

These tire chain adjusters perform as designed but you'd better eat your wheaties before attempting to install them on your wheels. I can't imagine anybody with limited hand or arm strength being able to accomplish this task. Certainly not as easy as it looks on YouTube. I must say that installing them during the second snow storm was easier.

Bought a 26hp Craftsman garden tractor off of Craigslist that came with a dozer blade and chains. Playing around back dragging my gravel driveway and quickly found the chains slip off.

Bought this product hoping they'd fit (they're marketed for passenger car tires) and was delighted to find they work great. Require a fair amount of strength to hook to the chains, but that just means they'll be held tight!

Each purchase is for one pair (two bands). Seeing as how I wanted to go the extra mile and have bands on the outside AND inside of each wheel, I went ahead and bought a second pair.

So far, so good. Working perfectly now!

Only thing that I'd change (and not worth knocking a star off) is having a sixth hook per band. For aesthetic reasons, it's hard to get an even pentagon shape (like in the photo). On an actual tire, it's difficult and they look sloppy and uneven. Having a sixth hook would allow you to line up parallel lines for a clean looking hexagon much easier.

Having said that, you can add your own by bending comparable sizes of mild steel and viola you're done.

They're doing their job so far but the rubber bands have started to crack and dry rot in just a month's time. I live in the snowy mountains and only drive on snow packed dirt roads all winter. So I keep the cable chains on the car for the winter driving 25mph or less. Maybe these aren't supposed to be on that long? I'm a bit disappointed but not sure what I should have expected for $9? Not sure how long they'll last at this point.

This was just as effective as the one at Wal-mart, but less expensive.

I have a set of chains and a set of cables for my 2001 Toyota Corolla.
It worked amazingly for both the chains and cables.
I am glad I bought two sets.

I plan to buy two more, since they also worked for my chains on my Chevy Tahoe.

I bought these as a cheaper option than my usual heavy duty ones and they work...33 in tires and take some doing to put on the first time but they do the trick in the mud holes in the back 40
