5.0 out of 5 stars The crown jewel of Finley-Holiday
As one of my top 5 favorite national parks, I was excited to buy this one and I knew I've made the right choice even when I was just in the middle of the film playing.

The most popular spots in the Glacier National Park can be seen in this film, including Many Glacier, Two Medicine, Going-to-the-Sun Road, and even the Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada...

3.0 out of 5 stars More on Global Warming and Less on Tourism Than Desired
We were planning a vacation to Glacier this summer so I purchased this video thinking it would be more of a tourist information production, showing the best places to see, to camp, to visit etc. In fact, the general theme of this entire production is that global warming is destroying the glaciers in the park. That may or may not be, I am not a scientist, but the video...

As one of my top 5 favorite national parks, I was excited to buy this one and I knew I've made the right choice even when I was just in the middle of the film playing.

The most popular spots in the Glacier National Park can be seen in this film, including Many Glacier, Two Medicine, Going-to-the-Sun Road, and even the Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. The lakes and glacier-shaped valleys and peaks are the most distinguishing features in this area and they are all shot with high quality. In addition, you can see some scenes in different seasons, which is difficult for most tourists to do in this park.

The wildlife also shares certain run time in this film. Although these animals are in this park, you still need some luck to see all of the cute scenes there. This film may ease your thirst somewhat in this aspect.

I also like the Glacier Music Video in the DVD Extra. It is the highlight of this film and is enjoyable to watch as a review or preview.

The Finley-Holiday is indeed good at making this kind of film after I've watched many of their films, including Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Rocky Mountain, Mount Rushmore and this one. It is good for both preparation, before you go there, and review, after you've been there. They really know how to capture the points of the topics and tastes.

I recommend this film to any one interested in Glacier National Park. It is worth spending.

If you are hoping for an HD video tour of one of the most spectacular of our Nation's Parks, forget it. The bulk of the BD covers the dramatic effects of planetary warming and the loss of the Park's namesakes. It is well done in that regard but as far as "coverage" of the Park itself, it is wanting.

I purchased this DVD as a birthday gift for my Mother. She had to cancel a planned vacation to Glacier National Park this year, so I decided to send her via DVD as a consolation. She absolutely loved the DVD, the narration and filiming were spectacular.

Hopefully she can plan a trip in person in the future, but for now she feels like she has been there. Awesome!!

3.0 out of 5 stars More on Global Warming and Less on Tourism Than Desired, January 17, 2011

We were planning a vacation to Glacier this summer so I purchased this video thinking it would be more of a tourist information production, showing the best places to see, to camp, to visit etc. In fact, the general theme of this entire production is that global warming is destroying the glaciers in the park. That may or may not be, I am not a scientist, but the video did not deliver the information I had hoped for.

There was a good deal of footage around the park, much of it from a helicopter. Indeed, the park is magnificent and we got to see some of the beautiful spots, but instead of the narration saying "here is beautiful Lake McDonald" and here is how to get there, the footage is shown while the narration bemoans global warming. So many of the beautiful vistas we witnessed remain unknown locations, places we hope to find. But we will need other references to effectively plan our trip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent blu-ray, December 16, 2010

I just received this blu-ray and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I've already been to Glacier, but the scenery in this film was surprisingly stunning. It shows perspectives of the park that even a seasoned backpacker won't be able to see on his or her own, particularly the shots taken from the air that show the majesty of this carved-out landscape. As stated by others this is not a tourist video but rather a look to the future of the parks ecosystem due to the accelerating loss of its glaciers. This message in itself is motivation for me to return to the park and take in as much as possible since Glacier's ecosystem will likely be dramatically different in just a few generations.

I suppose seeing Glacier National Park in high definition is the next best thing to being there. This was a very good video that covered a number of interesting topics. I learned firsthand that Glacier is a hiker's paradise. The park's glaciers are in fast retreat, but the landscape is still magnificent and stunning. See the National Geographic blu ray and then visit the park!
