These make your trash stink worse!,
By
This review is from: Glad Drawstring Odor Shield Tall Kitchen Bags, 13 Gallon, 40-Count Bags, (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I have never posted a review, but I HAD to here. These are supposed to neutralize odor, but they actually make the trash really stink. There must be some chemical reaction that takes place and causes a horrible odor. I take out my trash every day, and use a new bag everyday. When I was using plain old supermarket grocery bags (before I bought these) my trash never smelled at all. I have two more boxes to go of these, and I may just throw them away. I can't take it anymore. Definitely buy the ones WITHOUT the odor shield!

Just put these in, came back after awhile and wondered where is that awful insecticide smell coming from. The answer is from these bags. Filled the whole kitchen area with this smell.

i bought these bags and love them. I love the febreze scent. I do not smell any funny chemical reaction. Those people must have been putting some strange things in their trash or something lol. Anyhow, I recommend these and will buy them here on amazon because they are cheaper than at my local store.

Odor Enhancing Bags,
By SRae (Brighton, MA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Glad Drawstring Odor Shield Tall Kitchen Bags, 13 Gallon, 40-Count Bags, (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
This product does the opposite of what it claims. Rather than mask stink, these bags noticeably enhance it. We have to change them everyday even if they are only half full, because the odor is absolutely unbearable and wafts throughout the entire condo. We NEVER had this problem with regular, non-shield bags. Did they just not test these things or is Glad just playing a massive hoax on its consumers? FAIL.

Allergy sufferers beware!,
By TexasReader (Dallas, Texas USA) - See all my reviews

The scent on these bags is so strong that it caused me to have a fairly severe allergic reaction. I have a small house (1,300 square feet), and you could smell them in every room. If you're sensitive to perfumes and other odors, stay away. Hefty makes a great unscented odor-control bag.

Gag-inducing scent,
By
This review is from: Glad Drawstring Odor Shield Tall Kitchen Bags, 13 Gallon, 40-Count Bags, (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I really wish I could do a "scratch and sniff" review to show everyone just how awful these bags smell. It's unreal. I love the other scented Glad trash bags (the citrus one and the vanilla one), but this "fresh clean" scent is just NASTY. It's sort of a sickly sweet rotten fruit odor, but incredibly overpowering, to the point where it makes me gag just walking through the kitchen. I guess it doesn't bother everyone, but given how many people it DOES bother I think folks should find a way to check out the scent for themselves before buying a whole box.

stinky bags,

I agree with the person who said the bags make the garbage stink, but they even stink before the garbage is put in them. I put an open box (first time I used them) inside the cabinet under the sink, and one in the garbage pail. Every time I walked into the kitchen I smelled this rotten odor and the closer I got to the sink the worse it got. The smell just wouldn't go away no matter what I did. Finally, I realized where the odor was coming from and removed the bags from the cabinet and out of the house and guess what--no more rotten smell.

Not A Bad Product Though Beware Of The Odor Shield...,
By
This review is from: Glad Drawstring Odor Shield Tall Kitchen Bags, 13 Gallon, 40-Count Bags, (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
Odor Shield may do a good job blocking the odor of your garbage but in return it is going to stink your garbage pail up which may or may not be a good thing.*BAGS* ( 4 stars ) The bags themselves are not bad at all. They hold up about as good as standard Glad Bags do. Nothing changed here other than the bags seem to be soaked in a Febreze scent. The Drawstrings might seem a bit flimsy but they do a great job holding the weight of the bag as well as creating a solid knot. *ODOR* ( 4 stars ) As for the scent... This one is "FRESH CLEAN" scented. It is no where near as bad as the Vanilla in my opinion. However it still has that existing problem of being to strong at times. I also found over repeated use is my plastic garbage pail began to absorb some of the odor from the bags. It wasn't nearly as bad as the Vanilla, once again, but a downside to using the bags (I just wash the pail out occasionally) In the end, the odor shield helps reduce the odor of your trash but it might leave an unwelcome after scent if you use a plastic garbage pail. The Fresh Clean scent isn't bad at all, though it can be overpowering at first. I would recommend taking a bag out and fluffing it to get some air into it and get all that concentrated Febreze scent out from inside the bag. CONCLUSION: Standard Glad garbage bags with an added scent of Febreze... this scent isn't bad. While it does have some problems leaving some odor behind on the garbage pale it does the job. I prefer to use Glade Force Flex Odor Shield bags. The Force Flex bags are not only much stronger bags, but the Odor Shield works exceptionally well and did not cause me any problems with the scent smelling up my garbage pail. In the end, these are worth the price as long as you understand the scent can be concentrated at times.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

These garbage sacks make me sick. I purchased them because Target has a similar product which has a light orange smell. The odor control helped the smell from the garbage. However, this one, with the Febreze scent, is GROSS. It really make the garbage smell worse!

Are there health risks to this product?,
This review is from: Glad Drawstring Odor Shield Tall Kitchen Bags, 13 Gallon, 40-Count Bags, (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I suffer from chronic bronchitis and allergies. I don't smoke, drink or use drugs (including alchohol). My mother in law purchased these nightmarish stinky bags and used one to send some things over to our house. In less than an hour the car was saturated with the stench and I was into a full blown choking cough. I'm already suffering from bronchitis and with cold weather setting in the fireplace smoke in the neighborhood is bad enough but this is as bad as cat dander to me. I'm broken out and can't breathe. I can't claim that this is what actually caused the problem unless a doctor or scientist were to actually perform double blind experiments to see if some portion of the population might be allergic. It could be some other thing that has broken me out today but this is the most likely suspect. For people who suffer with chronic bronchitis or COPD I highly recommend you avoid this product like the plague.
