I bought one of these after reading reviews of Keeper vs. Diva online and deciding I'd go with the cheaper option. I was lucky enough to have a store that sells both near me, which offers returns, no less!

Possible TMI alert below (but then, if you came to this page, you gotta expect that):

3.0 out of 5 stars Go for the Diva., October 12, 2009

I bought one of these after reading reviews of Keeper vs. Diva online and deciding I'd go with the cheaper option. I was lucky enough to have a store that sells both near me, which offers returns, no less!

Possible TMI alert below (but then, if you came to this page, you gotta expect that):

The Keeper may work for some, but not for me. It's made of natural rubber, so it smells very rubbery, which puts me off and runs counter to getting any kind of action (though there's no intercourse with menstrual cups, well, y'know...). Also, the stem is awkwardly long; first, I could feel it poking at my clothes, but then when I trimmed it a bit, it started poking ME. Like, inside. Augh. Finally, whenever I took it out, it clung for dear life and felt like it was sucking my [...]. However, this last may just be an issue of practice.

So, I took it back and got a Diva Cup (Diva Cup Model 1 - equivalent to Keeper Style B). It doesn't poke me, or wiggle because the stem hits my clothes. Again, the Keeper may be for some, but I much prefer the clear silicone, and this one doesn't smell!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love, Love, Love the Keeper!, May 17, 2009
This review is from: Glad Rags - The Keeper Menstrual Cup Size B (Health and Beauty)
I started using the Keeper Menstrual Cup 9.5 yrs. ago, shortly after the birth of my first child. I had heard of it previously, but was always grossed out by the idea of insertion. However, I got over that quickly and will never go back to using tampons or disposable pads again.

I recently tried a Diva Cup as I figured my Keeper would be ready for the garbage soon (they can be used for about 10 yrs.), but no matter how I try to insert it, it never pops open and I have leaking problems. So I'm back to using my Keeper and will continue to until I have to buy a new one.

I love the environmental, health, and economic benefits of the Keeper, find it very easy to insert and remove, and it's so much more pleasant and convenient than tampons or pads. I rarely ever have leaking problems (I wear a cloth pantiliner just to be on the safe side though) and on the last few days of my period when it is lighter, I can leave it in for 24 hrs. without any problems at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Great Years Later, July 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I began using this product approx 5 or so years ago from the original company "The Keeper". I was shocked to see it on Amazon and for much less---yeah Amazon. I heard about it while reading a book on how to become more frugal. Initially I couldn't imagine how it would work, and the thought kind of took me aback. It allows your body to naturally cleanse itself without any obstructive devices. I feel clean throughtout the duration and I am not worried about anything happening to my clothes. No buldges, no discomfort, and no twitching. After the second month I was hooked. Be sure to take it out and clean regularly throughout the day, but it is comforting to know that there won't be any "accidents" once you get the swing of it. I feel sorry for the women who haven't gotten on this train. I have tried to share the info with some of my friends but that is not exactly the most comfortable topic and many get freaked out altogether. I guess their pocket books can handle the wasted cash they will undoubtedly spend by not using the Keeper Cup.

It is carefree and extremely comfortable. Be sure to cut off a part of the tip to fit your body's comfort level. They can only be so general- you have to make it work for you. That being said, I have since been forced to purchase three total. The first I mistakenly tried to clean it in one of those auto flush toilets and my hand shifted and away it went. JOKE: I came out fussing about "losing My Keeper" and my mom fell out laughing when I explained what it was to her". The most recent one I lost today. Took a long shower and tossed it out with the trash. I was quite irritated but I have saved so much money using them throughout the years that the $30 price tag is nominal... considering the alternative... going back to those dreadful tampons. I look forward to getting this new styled red polka dot bag, I am stuck here with 2 blue empty bags-- oh how I miss my Keepers--glad I have Amazon Prime (2 days max delivery is a beautiful thing).

The hubby periodically asks what is "that" and I discreetly tell him my feminine item. In other words none of your concern. You must be careful where you lay it down in the bathroom after you take it out and clean it. It is very easy to forget about it. It is a very small, discreet, and tastefully constructed product. I will continue to use this for many many many years. I am so not looking forward to menapause-- I heard it is hot as hell!! In summary...Buy this miracle.

5.0 out of 5 stars EVERYBODY should have one., August 15, 2008

This thing changed my life.

My periods are shorter, lighter, and much less painful. I don't feel *gross* anymore. My period used to be an ordeal that took up 1/4 of my life; and now it's hardly a blip on the radar, all thanks to the Keeper.

It infuriates me that people aren't introduced to these along with pads and tampons. In fact, tampons should be outlawed and replaced with the Keeper or its silicone partner, the DivaCup.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'll never go back!, November 4, 2010
By
Pen Name (Philadelphia, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Glad Rags - The Keeper Menstrual Cup Size B (Health and Beauty)
I've been using The Keeper for about nine years - I'm here to buy a new one. I used tampons for at least 10 years before I learned about The Keeper.

I'll be honest - the first couple months were a little rocky. I'm not used to getting that up close and personal with myself, especially during the times The Keeper was made for. But now I have no idea how I got along without it!

I travel a lot for work and now I no longer have to allocate precious suitcase space for tampons or gamble that I can get some wherever I'm going or just hope I won't need them before I get back. I throw my Keeper in the suitcase every time - it takes up no space and I'm covered.

And I'll try not to be gross, but we all know what happens when you take out a tampon too late (yuck!) or too soon (OW! and then OW! when you put its replacement in). Those problems are a distant, unpleasant memory for me, as are my old fears of Toxic Shock Syndrome.

One of the best, most unexpected benefits is that using The Keeper actually takes a day, sometimes two, off my period! I assume it must be because there's no barrier (absorbent though it may be) to slow the flow. That's almost two weeks a year!

Of course the savings in money and trash are obvious.

So yes, there's a bit of a learning curve but you can do it and it's totally worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 years later, it's still great!, September 17, 2011
This review is from: Glad Rags - The Keeper Menstrual Cup Size B (Health and Beauty)
I've had the same Keeper for 12 years and it's still in good shape. The benefits for me are not really about the cost savings (so you save $3 per month... big deal). Rather, it is a much healthier and comfortable alternative to paper products, and keeps my internal ecosystem balanced. I did completely cut off the stem because I found it uncomfortable. To remove, I bear down and pinch and grasp the bottom, which helps to break the seal, and it comes out easily.

It does take a few months to get used to it. And for those reviewers who did not have a good experience, the company offers a very generous 3-month trial. If you don't like it after 3 months, send it back and they will give you a refund.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't like the Keeper- not sure if I should buy another menstrual cup, June 17, 2011
This review is from: Glad Rags - The Keeper Menstrual Cup Size B (Health and Beauty)
The material of The Keeper is unpleasant, smells funny, and frankly is just plain ugly looking. At first I had a really hard time inserting it. After a lot of practice I finally figured it out, but it was pretty uncomfortable. While it was in I could feel it and did not like it. I also found that it ended up leaking. Getting it out is also scary, because it travels up and it feels like you are never going to be able to get a grip on it.

I wish I had bought the Diva cup to begin with. Now after my experience with the Keeper I'm not sure whether I should even waste my time and money seeing if the Diva works. I am disappointed in the current choices available- the Instead cup doesn't work for me and isn't reusable. The other menstrual cups are reusable but not comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, April 29, 2010
I have used this for about 15 years. I guess I should get a new one, but it still works great. I cut off the stem because it was very uncomfortable. I wonder how much money I have saved on tampons in all that time. It takes awhile to get used to. It only leaked in the beginning when I was not used to it, but now it doesn't (it was definitely user error). This is a great item for emergency preparedness. You don't have to store tons of tampons or pads. I might get my three girls their own, but I'm not sure how teenagers would feel about it....

1.0 out of 5 stars It hurts a lot, November 27, 2011
This review is from: Glad Rags - The Keeper Menstrual Cup Size B (Health and Beauty)
My super environmentally conscious roommate and my women's health teacher recommended that I get this. I tried using it once with horrible results- but due to my roommate urging I tried dedicating 3 months to learning how to use it right. I asked her for advices and I did my own research on the internet. Nothing helped. It was the biggest waste of money and time.

Here are the issues that I have found with the keeper.
1). Removal hurts a LOT. Hence why they call it birthing the cup.
2. It is difficult to insert. Yes I have gone to multiple websites and did a lot of research. None of the different folding methods worked for me.
3. It takes forever to to insert.
4. This product is made of rubber, which produces a really bad smell after being wet for about a day. I had to wash my hands with toothpaste after I removed it. Its a horrible wet rubber smell. And no, I didn't have any kind of vaginal infection. It was the keeper that smelled bad- not me.
5. It can be difficult to remove the keeper. It probably takes me about 15 minutes to remove it.
6. The materials is made out of rubber so it is also very stiff and difficult to fold.
7. Sometimes it does leak if doesn't seal correctly- which can be difficult to tell until its too late.
8. Removal is messy. A couple times after removing it- I ended up with blood splattered all over my clothes. Not nice.

Pros
1. It helps the environment
2. It saves money if you don't buy any menstrual products for 10 years
