5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Glad You Asked Hits the Mark
This is the third copy of I'm Glad You Asked I have purchased. I keep "lending" copies of this book to others as a valuable reference, particularly when witnessing to non-Christians or Christians seeking to learn more about some very good questions: "What makes Christianity different?" "Doesn't Anyone who is good get to Heaven?"...

This book had some valid points, but it was clearly written in a different time. Thirty years ago, societal thinking was a lot different, so his points would be more accepted than they are today. Still a good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Glad You Asked Hits the Mark, December 27, 1999
This review is from: I'm Glad You Asked: In-Depth Answers to Difficult Questions about Christianity (Paperback)
This is the third copy of I'm Glad You Asked I have purchased. I keep "lending" copies of this book to others as a valuable reference, particularly when witnessing to non-Christians or Christians seeking to learn more about some very good questions: "What makes Christianity different?" "Doesn't Anyone who is good get to Heaven?" "What about those who have never heard the Gospel?"

I have several other books, including books by Hugh Ross (Creation and Time), Barry Wood (Questions non-Christians Ask Today) and Geisler and Brooks (When Skeptics Ask). All of these are good books, but I found this book answers the questions that are relevant today in a very readable yet thoughtful manner. It's well worth the investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a great confidence builder !, June 12, 1998

This review is from: I'm Glad You Asked: In-Depth Answers to Difficult Questions about Christianity (Paperback)
The key strength of this book is in the fact that it challenges the reader to ask the question, " Is my faith reasonable?" If the answer is " No ", then the reader is then confronted with the decision of whether to hang on to an irrational faith or to discard it.

Christianity is viewed by many as a leap of faith and not a rational world view. This book walks the reader through the rational arguments for belief in the claims of Christ and of the historical Christian Faith.

I have used the book for personal study and as a course in evalgelism for young people and adults. I have watched as the syudents grew in confidence and became eager to take a reasonable Faith out into the market place of ideas.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very logical and applicable guide to answering peoples questions., January 16, 2006

This review is from: I'm Glad You Asked: In-Depth Answers to Difficult Questions about Christianity (Paperback)
The book does a great job of starting a square one...does God even exist then systematically just walks right on through topics leading up to did the resurrection of Jesus then goes into a few other areas of common questions. Each chapter is devoted to a topic and even includes a nice flow chart to help illustrated where each possible avenue leads to. Each chapter builds on the previous but since each chapter is devoted to its own stand alone topic you can just jump to that question to look for how to logically think through and reason the evidence.

The book handles all topics with enough throughness to give satisfaction with each topic while still maintaining good "readablility"

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique for its Flow Charted Logic on principle Christian doctrine, March 19, 2008
By

This review is from: I'm Glad You Asked: In-Depth Answers to Difficult Questions about Christianity (Paperback)
This text is the only I have ever come across that FLOW CHARTS the logic of the more frequent questions and responses on the principle doctrines of Christianity. For me (and hopefully for the many other people to whom I have given the book) it is in the top ten most meaningful books I have studied on Christianity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only Reformed Christian flow charted doctrine of which I am aware. Excellent., October 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: I'm Glad You Asked: In-Depth Answers to Difficult Questions about Christianity (Paperback)
This text helped me be much better able to:
1. Listen to the thought process of others who are wondering about the validity of Christianity.
2. Reply relevantly, if and when I was asked a question or two (Hence, the title, "I'm Glad You Asked," in accordance with 1st Peter 3:15).
3. Consolidate my understanding and faith previously derived from reading The Bible/listening to preaching/other study processes/etc.
I have handed out 10 copies to friends and acqaintances who I thought m-i-g-h-t gain similar benefits.
This is the only flow charted logic I have ever come across of Reformed Christian doctrine.
And, yes, the author does effectively address the classic question of "If there is 'a god,' why is there <suffering> <evil>?"
The flow charts are inter-related/coordinated, while structured to prepare the reader to be able to present the Gospel message in a timely, respectful, and understandable fashion for His glory :- ).

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak explanations that might convince children, January 18, 2009
This review is from: I'm Glad You Asked: In-Depth Answers to Difficult Questions about Christianity (Paperback)
I read through my sister's copy of this book. I was not expecting a robust defense of Christianity or an authoritative explanation of Protestant Christian doctrine. It does answer quite a few of the prominant questions posed to Christians, but it answers them in unsatisfying ways.

The parts of the book that confronted atheism and attempted to prove that the Christian God exists were the worst. There were logically absurd statements, circular reasoning, and outright false statements about atheism and about other religions.

Questions such as 'why does God allow evil to happen' are covered here, but they might as well not be because the answer is so poor. The author may be glad that we asked, but he won't satisfy our curiosity in this book.

The writing of the book is very smooth and esay to read the reading level seems to place it directly at young to mid teens. This is for children who are still trying to make up their mind and who will be swayed by emotional arguments and won't see the felacious circular reasoning, the equiviocations, and the false statements and obfuscations.

So if your goal is to indoctrinate impresionable youth, this might be the book for you. If you actually want the important questions answered, this book will not help you.
