Shown with the optional solid maple work surface.
The Gladiator GarageWorks Premier Modular GearDrawer provides versatile and accessible storage for the tools, parts, and household items that you keep in your garage or shop. The GearDrawer features five non-slip, cushion-lined drawers that extend 20 inches beyond the cabinet front to ensure easy access for loading and unloading. Also, the drawer glides can be adjusted to customize the GearDrawer for your specific tools and gear.
One two-inch-tall drawer easily fits large hand tools, while the three four-inch-tall drawers are ideal for power tools and chargers. The nine-inch-tall drawer allows for the storage of larger items, such as circular saws and reciprocating saws.
Top Mat Provides Additional Work Surface
The heavy gauge top mat of the GearDrawer is cushioned and removable, providing a 26.6-inch by 24-inch additional work surface. Great for small repairs, the mat has a bucket-top design that keeps your tools and small parts from rolling away.
Casters and Recessed Handles for Easy Mobility
Space-saving, recessed handles give the tread-plate doors a streamlined look and make it easy to move the unit from one work area to another. The GearDrawer travels on durable five-inch by two-inch casters--the rear casters swivel for easy steering, and the front casters lock the unit in place.
Durable and Secure
With a protective finish and deep welded steel construction, the GearDrawer is built to last and will hold up to 1,400 pounds. For security, this unit comes with a Gladiator GarageWorks-compatible key, so you can also lock it to keep your tools safe.
Dimensions and Warranty
The Gladiator GarageWorks GAGB272DRG Premier Modular GearBox is 34.5 inches high by 28 inches wide and 25 inches deep. It is backed by a lifetime limited warranty.

If you want something just to look nice, but won't be doing much that is heavy duty, the RTA versions are probably fine. The welded versions are heavy, so you will want 2 people to move them around until you get the caster set installed.
Now the details:
Price - overall as compared to competition, after much web searching, is fairly reasonable.
Casters - The caster set is included, unlike the RTA version. I don't know anyone who puts this kind of heavy equipment for a garage directly on the floor. Keep this in mind when comparing prices between the RTA.
Extra Depth - The 24 inch depth and drawers that can pull out 90% of the way is very useful as compared to the 18" versions of competitors.
Easy Assembly - Assembly of the casters took 15 minutes.
Key Lock - There is a key lock that allows for easy movement without drawers opening or guarding your tools if you are using this at a jobsite / shared shop.
Construction - The welded construction is done very well. This can definitely support the amount of load they specify it to hold.
The drawers are non-latching. They do have a key lock, so this is not a major con. Some competition have the drawers that latch and require you to lift the handle to open a drawer.
This base unit holds an amazing amount of tools and materials. When paired with the matching top piece it's really impressive just what fits into the two. I've really cleaned up my working areas. The larger bottom drawers are great for bulkier items. I buy plastic boxes to sort and store things in the drawers. Then I can get at items based on task, such as battery chargers in one box and so forth. The top shallow drawer is deep enough for those plastic sorting boxes (commonly used for fishing gear) which I use to group small things such as nuts, bolts, washers together.
I bought my chest and base prior to moving and suggest that anyone nearing a move consider organizing their tools and gear in such units. They are firm, moved well and the best part is that in the new home I know right where everything is, because it's exactly in the same location as they were in my last home. The tool chest may be in a different place, but everything within it is in a known location and that really saves me time when I need tools to work on the new house, assemble things etc.
This is a very deep unit. I tried placing it in a standard depth closet and the closet door would not close.Read more ›
Overall I am pleased with these cabinets and they have made a big difference in my workshop. It used to be piled high with stuff that is now conveniently stored in drawers. Bit of a short term problem remembering where things went, but that will come.
These are very heavy boxes and required a freight carrier for delivery. The shipper caused some minor damage which I could repair, but I would rather have not had to go through that. Probably better to get them from a local distributor if possible.
I also bought a GearBox which came FedEx and had no problems. Still pretty heavy, but light enough to ship with a major carrier. It made a difference.
Discovered that inside of box was rusting along all internal joints - particularly the 90 degree intersections. Took it back and was given a replacement. Opened it on site and found the same - though we're joints were rusty. Finally decided to take the floor display, as it had no rust - though it did have some minor dents
Love it and the companion 8 drawer top unit
Check your new unit to make sure it isn't rusting as that degrades the "lifetime" concept. Also be aware that this unit doesn't have the durable hammered finish on the inside of the unit as my 8 drawer top unit and two door premier pieces do

Really nice, the bolts that hold the casters on are very substandard, however. Broke one with very little torque. Very pleased overall.Published 3 months ago by Brian J. Brock
