Works but with a price,

The Glaesel Ebony mute is pretty simply to install, but in time it will slip off little by little.. As for it's job, it does actually mute with a more bassy sound. The downside is that it will "hide" your mistakes made without the mute and the Ebony will stain the bridge black after a week or 2 of use. If you want to preserve your bridge then I suggest trying a different product.

I've seen over the years people getting away from this type of mute and going to the Tourte rubber mute and/or the infernal wire mute, which is a shame, because if you want that beautifully muted sound, this is the mute to get. Would recommend this mute and none other. Been using one for over forty years now.
