5.0 out of 5 stars Glaesel GL-3909 Paganini Rosin
I've been using this since elementary school. That was almost 30 years ago. It still exists, so it must be good!

1.0 out of 5 stars SHREDS THE BOW
The high cork sides on this rosin catch on the bow hairs. At first I thought it was just my child's control but even his teacher has a really hard time. Buy a round cake.

5.0 out of 5 stars String Rosin, January 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Ok, I've been trying a number of different rosins, and so far this would have to be the best. It seems to have good grip, not too dusty, and not too expensive. But for those allergic to pine sap, try the Jade Rosin, or other hypo allergenic types. This rosin has enough grip for fiddling, and use on Viola and Cello too. But it is not rough sounding like many of the darker rosins. It way out performs any of the cheaper rosins. I do have several lighter rosins that grip as well, but they also make a lot of dust. I have some dark (black) rosins that grip better and dust less, but cause a gritty sound on the violin.
If you play where it is cold (below 45 f) or very humid, you might want a darker rosin, but for most, this will become one of your favorite rosins.
Don't over rosin, and DO clean your strings when you wipe your violin down to put it away. Rosin build up on the strings is as bad as not enough rosin on your bow. This rosin is so good and versitle that it should come with every new violin and bow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its... rosin!, January 19, 2010

It's rosin, it works well (for a beginner like me, at the very least), and it's inexpensive. There isn't much more someone such as myself can add. If you're new to the violin, you couldn't go wrong with this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Rosin for price, October 8, 2010

Great Rosin with a handy slip-cover. We purchased a new violin and the Rosin that came with it was horrible and we couldn't get the new bow to make any sound. Thought we'd chance getting this even though it wasn't very expensive. It was delivered in just a few days too, and we were up and playing in just a matter of seconds from it being delivered.

4.0 out of 5 stars great for quality, not quantity, December 28, 2009

Excellent product, but much smaller than you would normally expect. Also not keen that the shipping was more than twice the price of the product itself, overpriced for something so small and light.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK with Erhu in warmer seasons, January 23, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Glaesel GL-3909 Paganini Rosin
I bought this for my Erhu (Chinese 2-string bow instrument). The sound quality was a little scratchy in winter and produced quite a bit noticeable secondary vibration. It was cheap (free shipping) and it works good during warmer months so still deserve 4 star.

3.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT, DON"T BUY IT FROM THIS COMPANY, October 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Glaesel GL-3909 Paganini Rosin
This Rosin was recommended to me by my mother. She said that she used it when she was in high school. This company may have the cheapest price, but they definitely don't have the best quality. The shipping was pathetic, and the rosin was actually cracked...but still, after all these years, it is still a great product.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it, July 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Glaesel GL-3909 Paganini Rosin
I ordered it with my violin order since many reviewers mentioned that the rosin came with a violin cracked when arrived. This Rosin came before my violin. When my violin arrived, the rosin came with it did cracked. Comparing to the rosin came with the violin, this Glaesel GL-3909 Paganini Rosin is well packaged. The cork case is easy to grab. The rectangular shaped rosin is better than the round shape rosin for bow. The product is much smaller than I expected. But because it is tiny, my daught loves to hold it. I haven't started to use this Paganini Rosin yet since the rosin came with my violin still can be used. But I feel it will work fine.
