tHE ARTISTRY IN THIS IS GREAT!Miss Hayward is perfectly captured in a very beautiful doll.Doris Day and especially Audery Hepburnare perfectly drawn.Miss Reynolds and Jane Russell are outstanding, with Jane in the killer Red dress from Gentlemen prefere Blondes.Where's Marilyn is my only complaint. But each inclusion here is great.

Paper-doll-making ninja Tom Tierney returns with another masterpiece: Glamorous Movie Stars of the 1950s!Like all his other gorgeous renderings (Pope John Paul II, Grace Kelly, etc.), Tierney's two-dimensional figurines are delightful. The likenesses are spot-on, and the clothing options (flowing ball gowns, sultry set costumes) are divine! Doris Day, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor...they're all here! (You may ask why Marilyn Monroe isn't included...it's because she's got a whole book to herself!) Being somewhat of a collector, I purchased two copies of this gorgeous book ...

Gorgeous Stars,
This review is from: Glamorous Movie Stars of the 1950s Paper Dolls (Dover Celebrity Paper Dolls) (Paperback)
The Glamorous Movie Stars of the Fifties Paper Dolls by Tom Tierney is a wonderful work with each lady lovingly portrayed by the artist. I especially loved Elizabeth Taylor in her famous silk slip from "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". She was at her most stunning in that film and the doll captures her beauty perfectly.
From the point of view of a paper doll enthusiast, I was disappointed that most of the dolls are fully clothed so that only their faces show through a hole in the costume. As a child I used to add costumes to my Marilyn Monroe paper doll by Mr Tierney, and it was a great way to improve my fashion illustration skills. Unfortunately, any budding illustrator today won't be able to do the same with the dolls in this book (eg Audrey Hepburn, Susan Hayward, Jane Russell, etc). Also, I'd love to see whole books dedicated to two of the greatest stars featured in this collection: Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor. This is a lovely set of illustrations, but as far as paper dolls go, I preferred Marilyn Monroe, Galmorous Movies Stars of the Thirties and Glamorous Movie Stars of the Forties.
