This is a great book. I got it for Christmas and finished it that day! :-D It covers everything from exercise to make-up. This is the best book ever! (one of the previous viewers said something about how God is full of wrath at us the second we are born. That is not true. God loves us immensely, especially when we are little and new. The God she described sounded more pagan than Christian. I hope you buy the book because it really makes you feel great!

(Note: my 13 yr. old daughter's review) I have really enjoyed reading this book, I picked it up by chance at my local Christian bookstore, and I'm so glad I did. It showed me a lot about using make-up, and how to properly take care of my skin, hair, and body. It gives so many cool tricks about applying make-up correctly. It also gives some interesting info. about how to find your color season. I would recommend this book to all teenage girls out there.

On page 18 the author makes a severe error, she said, "Get a new view of you! ... You're unconditionally loved and accepted by God! You've already won his approval!" That is an awful thing to say because it negates the gospel and the sacrifice Christ made for those he loved. According to Scripture we start out under God's wrath (intense hatred) first and only after we ask for forgiveness with sorrow and trust that his Son died for everyone one of our sins does he forgive and love us. If it's the other way around than there is no need to ask for forgiveness! By saying what she did may end up reinforcing that "God loves us so who cares let's keep on sinning)" belief among the pagans and false Christians or more shameful yet, giving them that idea.

The author also attempts to make girls feel better by saying that every body type is beautiful and takes a verse out of context to do it: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." - Psalm 139:14, which says nothing about physical beauty. Telling a girl that she's beautiful when she is not is setting her up for a fall, that is why the Bible says not to flatter. The Bible does however teach that when God returns he will glorify and no doubt beautify those he saved, so if a girl thinks she's ugly and so does everyone else, encourage her with what the Bible says. Furthermore, why bother with a beauty book if you are already beautiful like the author claims?

The author should advise a truly ugly person who wants to be beautiful to save up for surgery and pray that it works out well. Who would seriously tell a person with horrible teeth especially decaying ones to just think that you are beautiful and get a make up job?

She points out that the media promotes an unrealistic standard of beauty and so not to feel pressured to conform to it or stressed about it. I don't agree with that. How many media persons have you heard say, "only skinny is beautiful" or "only spiky hair looks good"? And even if some or many did, that wouldn't necessarily make them wrong or be a reason not to conform. You should simply obey God, not base your actions on opinions made by the media.

She also made two other disastrous statements: "Bottom line-it's all about health. ... A healthy body is what will help you be all that you were created to be." What's Jesus say? "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." -Matthew 4:4 and "Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear Yahweh and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones." - Proverbs 3:7-8 and "do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:31-33. In other words the top and first priority should be getting eternal life before you die first, then learning and obeying the teachings of Scripture out of love for God, THEN health falls into place, and surely you will have it, after you are saved, and when God returns."

And, as for a healthy body allowing you to be all that you will be, woah, wrong: "To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." - 2 Corinthians 12:7-10. But that absolutely does not mean to go cutting your wrists or deliberately chastising yourself, God will take care of that.

On 100 she implies it's not good to be unhappy about how you look. She is wrong: If a person believes that they will get worse in the end because what if you have a medical problem and pretend the blight you see from it is not really there or something good-looking? And how is supressing your honest emotions healthy? If you stress yourself out with a lie and someone bursts it do you think you'll be happy?

Her dietary advice isn't perfect but she gives good advice by saying to see what the books on nutrition in bookstores say.
