This book is filled with current information about dressing and style. It's useful because it shows the reader, using many photos, the do's and don'ts of dressing well--and not so well. It's hard to believe some of those don'ts!

The book also lists things like "Must Have Sweaters--or dresses --or coats, etc" and marks the most important ones with a tag that says "If you can only have one thing, get this." That makes it easier for those of us who don't want to spend a fortune to look good. And, the author writes about the pictures and describes why it's a do or don't so you don't end up guessing why this outfit was chosen as such.

I gave this four stars because it is current and makes good use of photos, but it does not help as much in the age appropriate areas. For instance, when the author encourages certain styles, I still wondered "but does that work for everyone or just 20 year olds?"

As a teenager I subscribed to Glamour magazine, and loved the fashion Do's and Don't's section. I was disappointed when I got this book and saw that the authors had included a great many photos of bare breasts and behinds. I felt that the women photographed for many of the "don't" pictures hadn't made mistakes in fashion -- they just had no sense of propriety. This book was embarrassing and I sure didn't want it laying around for my family to look at, so I returned it. I would suggest passing over this book and getting one that really will help you develop good fashion sense.

My girlfriend loves fashion magazines and clothing. For her birthday I decided to get her this book. I got it in the mail today and cannot put the book down. The book is basically the title. Every girl should have this as their fashion bible.. It shows you what is in style, and how to wear clothing to flatter your specific body type.. I am ordering one for myself. It is a wonderful gift for any girl that loves clothes!!

I bought this book for my wife about a week ago, and I couldn't have make a better choice: She absolutely loves it. I believe this is not only a great gift for any woman but also an excellent tool that will help her stay updated with fashion trends in order to choose the right outfit for every occasion, either at home, at work, or for a special occasions.

If you want to give a useful gift to a lady friend, this is it. I scored big points with this book, which by the way is important in any relationship.

There are a few ideas for older girls but not worth the money for anyone over age 25.

Although this book is one of the better ones out there on wardrobe building (most others don't have real life examples) it has a few downfalls. #1: Nudity. The editor should of put a bar over the women showing nipples, or at least warned the reader. There is a lot of skin too throughout. Not a book to leave lying around those offended by nudity. #2: Dressing by body type section is far too limited. For petites, it assumes all women under 5'3" are the waif type. Not true. #3: No index & the table of contents just repeats itself. If you want to find a recomended coat for work, you have to just flip pages.
That being said, this is a very entertaining book with very good examples of what not to wear, and what looks great.

Recently, my sister and I have been getting into fashion and watching shows like "What Not to Wear". I never thought I would buy a book like this, but it was just too amusing to pass up. =) I normally enjoy Glamor Magazine's "Dos and Don'ts" section, so I was thrilled that they had an entire book dedicated to the subject, and some pretty helpful tips and advice. (To me, I have the most fun looking at the "Don'ts" because it makes me wonder what the hell some of these people were thinking of??!!) This book is for the times, but I feel that the advice they give is timeless. There are some items of clothing (if you can even call it such) that will never work, and some that are classics, that never go out of style. I've learned a lot from this book, and it makes for good bathroom reading. =) Amusing and enlightening, from beginning to end.

Nothing really new. It would be nice to have more to do examples, than not to do. However I finally learned what to do with my pear shape body.

This book makes a great gift, a great coffee table book, a great resource and a great read. I highly recommend this book. It's classy, clever and helpful.

A fun book, although I'm not sure that I could ever use it as a fashion bible. It would have been nice if there were a few more subtle choices in the do's and don'ts. As it is, the clothing choices shown are fairly obvious and exaggerated in taste. That said, I do know many people that still don' t "get it" and actually don some of the frightening "sexy attire" that should be left for the bedroom. Obvious as the choices may seem, in America I'm afraid we have many people that could use this book to keep from embarrassing themselves and those around them.
