The album is mostly instrumental, predominantly downtempo but with constant emphasis on melody. This music strikes a positive chord with the first few bars of the first number. I liked it immediately. The music has the ability to create different "settings" or "moods" from song to song. It can be a bit melancholy, or a bit poppy... it changes in creative and positive ways. The addition of strings and ranging instruments within songs creates interest from one track to another. There is a nice variety to the melodies too. Vocals are limited to 1 song, but I love the sonal qualities of her voice. I'm a bit grey around the temples, (56) but I'm always listening for new music that sets itself apart. This music certainly does. Recent purchases have been Bitcrush, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, bands that I think have set themselves apart from all the others. Carta is one addition to my bloated collection that is getting a lot of play. I'm not sure of the genesis of me buying this cd. It may have been from the show "apartment life" on a local college station at 89.7 fm KFJC.org. Whatever it was... thank you. It's hard for me to label this music like so many others do. But if you like creative, alternative, and very listenable music, get this cd/download. You won't be disappointed.
