5.0 out of 5 stars Great techniques for advancing in fused glass., February 23, 1999
By A Customer
The author begins with Bas Relief and ends up with technical information of suppliers, anneal charts, firing schedules using Bullseye glass. In between he covers the glory hole, stringers, enamels, lusters, design techniques and problem solving. These are not cursory discussions but detailed information needed to be successful in doing advanced work. A wonderful follow-up to his first work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Glass Fusing - the Molds, February 7, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was not what I was expecting. I learned new techniques, but many of them should NOT be done at home with little to no ventilation. Some of the chemicals used are dangerous and I would not recommend them to be used in close quarters. Hence the techniques should be done outside or in a professional lab. I know this as I have made lots of molds of varying techniques, some mentioned in this book, but I work in a professional museum laboratory.

I would recommend to new glass fusing and slumping artists to stick with volumes one and two and skip number three UNLESS you really want to learn these techniques in the correct areas or just for understanding how it is done. Plus there are so many newer techniques out (remember the date on this publication!!!) that these listed in here seem to make the process much more difficult. Find books that are more recently published if you want to read about it, but to REALLY learn it, DO it with the specialists that do it all the time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good reference but....., April 21, 2009
By
In my opinion, not as valuable to me as Book 1. The book does discuss Advanced Fusing Techniques, but some of the processes are not ones I have ever considered trying. I think the spouse would be a little peeved if I constructed a "glory hole" in the basement. Irridizing my own glass??? I'll skip that one too. I am sure I will use this book for future reference...but not as often as others.

An expensive book, buy it used or borrow if you can. Oh, and not that this matters...the cover design is just hideous. I mean u-g-l-y. I had to get that off of my chest. And no, I did not judge this book by its cover. Lisa Melita
