The glass used for the MOM was decent for sure. MY mother dropped it on x-mas day and it didn't even chip! It came without batteries, but I am so glad it worked! It is beatiful for sure.

BUYER BEWARE THIS IS A RIP OFF OF A PRICE! The product itself is great (so product = 5 Stars), but $12 dollars? I bought mine in the dollar store, you know, for $1 dollar apiece? Yes, it cost me a dollar for the cube and a dollar for the light up base, but still I have two of them and it only cost me $4 dollars, and the batteries were on overflow from my battery drawer so...I'm not really seeing how this one is worth $12 (and it still doesn't come with batteries?); other than the fact that it says "I Love You Mom/Dad" (depending on which one you purchase). But I saw those and numerous other ones (I have a Unicorn with its Foal and another with, two Humming Birds gathered around a rose) at the dollar store. Also, I found the bases in not only silver, but black and bronze, again at the dollar store.

The base lights up (Comes with a "clickable" on/off switch) in three continuiously changing colors: Red/Orangey-Yellow/Bluish-Purple and refracts off of the frosted filled cut out area where you shape/saying is located and creates a beautiful light show on the ceiling. Can work great as a night light; because of the glass it really throws an illuminated shadow over the room, giving you just enough light to see, but, if you use it as a night light, just be prepared to change the batteries every two weeks or so.

Also if, you keep it in the bedroom (as a night light) and you're a light sleeper, the constantly changing colors on the ceiling might drive you a bit mad.

WHEN DUSTY: I recommend a gentle handwashing in the sink with a drop of soap for the cube (dry with soft cloth) and a lightly dampened soft cloth to wipe the base with (Base SHOULD NOT be washed in sink).

IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: Cube is glass and may chip, crack, or break if dropped/mishandled.
