I got these straws today, and am very pleased with them. The glass is thicker than I expected, very strong feeling, and easy to clean with my sippy straw cleaning brush. I'm glad I got the smaller ones, the 9mm, as they are perfect for my tea and as large as I would ever want.
I previously bought some stainless steel straws, and wasn't happy with them because they made my front teeth cold (one of the reasons I use straws, along with avoiding stains on the front teeth) and had nickle in them. I'm allergic to nickle and can't wear less expensive jewelry because of a rash that I get. I was getting soreness on my mouth from the metal straws.
These, on the other hand, are far better. My teeth aren't cold (and probably won't be hot when I switch to hot tea for the winter), and there is no allergic reaction. They don't change the flavor of the liquid, which the metal ones did.
I'm just hoping that there will be more available soon. I plan to order again when they are.
Added later on November 30, 2011: I am happy to say that they work equally well with hot beverages. You just have to be careful to not burn your mouth if it's too hot.
Other than that, they are the best thing going, IMHO. I bought more, and now have three of them so I can rotate them through the dish washer. I just put them into the silverware basket, and they come out clean. We put them back into the boxes they shipped in in the cabinet, to protect them, when not in use.
No chipping, no breakage except when I dropped one with some other dishes that hit and broke the straw. I have accidentally dropped them on our wood floor since then with no problem, so I'm sure it was the other dishes hitting the straw that broke it.

I'm all about drinking from the side of the glass, but my wife loves straws. I find one in every drink she pours or makes - even water! Bought her a glass mug to take to work and thought to buy this to match when she goes for cold drinks. She loves it!
The 9.5mm size is quite sizeable, wider than your average fast-food straw, and somewhat less than a tapioca (boba) drink straw. No problems with the durability of it so far. well-sized for your average glass or tall mug. Use pipe cleaners or something similar to clean it. I didn't think I could class someone into the group "straw lovers" but upon reflection that's an accurate description for my wife. If you or your loved one is a straw lover too, this makes a great gift.

I am really happy with the glass bendie straw.
I decided to get the large because then if I do make a thick(er)
smoothie it will work well.
I was tired of using plastic drinking straws where I was putting
the liquid I was drinking through a toxic substance into my mouth.
What is the good of using organic produce to make my drink and then
sipping it through something that isn't healthy for me!
The fact that it has a lifetime guarantee if it ever breaks, is a plus
and was definitely something I looked at when purchasing this item.
I highly recommend this item.

Wish I could've given it 0 stars!
My seller took 2 weeks to send one straw! Plus, This straw is HUGE! It fits in absolutely NO LID! Only open containers! I was totally disappointed in this product.
