More About the Author

I'm supposed to write a biography of myself under this photo but all you would really get is, born, raised, did this, did that, yadda, yadda, yadda. Now if I had written many books and won many prizes it might be interesting but alas I've written only one book, won a few prizes, received a few awards and met the usual suspects. Nothing that would stop you in your tracks. On the other hand it is a bit more interesting than that but still who wants to read it. If I revealed the interesting stuff I could get into a lot of trouble. So what is it that I can write here that would make you want to buy my book? Okay, here it is: My book Glass Notes is a compilation of what I know and what other experts in the field of glass know about many of the technical aspects of hot glass and the hot glass studio. I've been involved in glass education for over 40 years and felt there was a need for a how-to book on building and maintaining a hot glass studio. I've not only included descriptions and illustrations on many of the pieces of equipment one finds in the glass studio but descriptions of many glass techniques. If you're asking the question "how can he know it all" I can only answer by saying, your right, "I don't know it all". That is why you'll find information provided by the best and the brightest in the field. 350 pages of stuff that would take you years and years of study to find out and then some. Okay, that's about all I can say before you get really bored with reading this stuff. Build it and you will blow!

Working with hot glass as an amateur, I find this book more than useful. The author has the ability to transfer know-how on dry subjects and many details in this book are exiting to explore. (even for a pro) A good mixture of design, pictures, hints and step by step instructions. Written in an easy to read, humourous style. It is worth every dollar. Higly recommended! Wish I had many books of this quality.

Well written, readable, and very comprehensive - includes a lot of useful information. The graphics and illustrations are especially well done. Plans for annealing ovens and various conversion tables are included. References to suppliers are helpful, especially with web addresses.
