This review is from: Glass Slipper, Vol. 2 (DVD)
Glass Slipper Vol. 2 continues and finishes the very long story about two girls, from childhood through young adulthood. When you include Vol. 1, this series spans some 40 episodes. My impression is that it in total tries to be all things to all people. So, even though I DO recommend that this is worth watching, there were several threads within it that succeeded, and many that failed.

Looking specifically at Vol. 2, there are two very effective developments that take place. One is the resolution in the search for a lost loved one. It took some false starts and contrivances to finally get there, but the end result of this situation was quite beautiful to watch. The other is the progression of a certain medical condition, which although very well done, had an eerily Autumn-In-My-Heart-ish feel to it. I guess there is no shame in "borrowing" themes from past kdramas. Despite that, this medical situation was very well done.

Of course, the Gods were not on my side when it came to the other aspects of the show. The "gangster" element became even more integrated into the story and watching people hit each other with fake wood does NOT make for great television. Then there is the evil-sister side of the story. She went from a little scary in Vol. 1 to almost satin-like in Vol. 2. Well, if this was some kind of experiment to see how well these themes fit into a good love story, it failed.

There IS a love triangle that is also played out between one of the female leads and two quite-different men. I have a very uneven opinion on how all this worked out. Parts of it worked for me and parts did not. One of the men lived his life by solving problems with his fist. He is portrayed as a hot-tempered bully and his persona turned out to be one of the worst aspects of this series. So, did the female lead end up with her true love, or did she chose the "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one your with" path? You will have to watch to find out.

If you are a patient person and willing to put up with some nonsense, you may find that there are some diamonds in the rough that make Glass Slipper worth watching.
