better than I expected, but still a few reservations, April 28, 2006
This review is from: Glass Wizard Glass Surface Cleaner (Health and Beauty)
This is a handle about one and a half feet long, with a flexible, padded triangular surface to which you affix elastic-lined fabric pads (the unit comes with two - as well as a mesh "bug scrubber" pad the REALLY WORKS). Pretty simple.
The main reason(s) I got it was because you can screw a broomhandle onto the end of the handle, and I wanted to use it for these pesky windows on my house that have bushes growing in front of them. I can also use it to wash the side windows in the back of my station wagon. I have two very curious golden retrievers and their noses leave these little "snuffle" marks all over the windows, and nothing short of climbing into the back of the car with a roll of paper towels and some Windex can clean them.
The "pointy" end of the cleaning surface is great for getting into corners, and let me tell you, this thing cleans windows really well, and really fast. Now for the problems:
First, I tried for a long time to put the extremely tight-fitting SQUARE covers onto the triangular cleaning surface, until I got wise and wet the fabric first. That gives it just enough stretch to go on with no problem.
Second, despite the claims that any "regular" threaded mop/broom/shovel/whatever handle will screw into the end, the threads are really flimsy and the very first time I tried it, the threads stripped. Enter the handy man's best friend; duct tape.
I probably would've given it a five-star review if it wasn't for these minor problems. Otherwise, this thing does what it's advertised to do; clean windows. FAST. I can do all the windows in my house (including sliding patio doors) in about fifteen minutes, with very little effort.

Glass Wizard DOES work if you use glass cleaner, April 18, 2008
This review is from: Glass Wizard Glass Surface Cleaner (Health and Beauty)
My new car is getting a film on the inside of the rear window, causing horrible visibility problems when the sun hits it from the back. I had a Glass Wizard for a while, and thought it was the perfect tool to clean that film off.
The most important things about the Glass Wizard is its long handle, the shape of the pad, and the swiveling, flexible head. It really gets in the corners and flexes to conform to the inside of the rear window. I could not reach the bottom of the window without it, as the window really slopes away from me.
I first tried using the water spray mister the Glass Wizard came with, but this really didn't get the film off. I had a bunch of Stoner Invisible Glass cleaner, and tried that with it. As long as you don't over-saturate the windshield and pad with it, the combination cleans very well. I saw a suggestion to clean twice to really polish the window. This is not hard to do.
All I can say is that the Glass Wizard plus a good glass cleaner gets the film off my hard-to-get-at rear window, and nothing else would work as well. Since I don't need to use an extension pole with it, I have no complaints about the construction.
Every time I am finished with the thing, I remove the bonnet and wash it with detergent and let it dry. I think I'll alternate the two bonnets it comes with and put one in the washer. As long as you keep it clean, it'll work nicely. Try to use a good light behind the glass to see if you got it clean. Keep rubbing to be sure you get all the streaks out.

So so..., January 21, 2009
This review is from: Glass Wizard Glass Surface Cleaner (Health and Beauty)
This item works well for the most part. If you don't keep up on cleaning the cleaning pads (and I thought I did pretty well washing them inbetween uses) you will have dirty triangle shaped outlines where you stop wiping. No big deal to me as I make sure my last stroke in near where I can reach easily with another rag but then again if it did it's job properly I wouldn't need another rag. Oh well. :-/
