"A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss)" (what a clever title) follows up Scottish band Glasvegas' eponymous debut by a mere 3 months. At 6 tracks, it is more of an EP, and the band state it is a Christmas album of sorts. Glasvegas stated that they wanted to do a Christmas CD that deviated from the norm, i.e. joy, bells and snow, and show the reality of Christmas i.e. loneliness, heartbreak and despair. Besides the brief chiming organ ballad "Careful what you wish for" that opens with the lines "Christmastime is here again" and closing "Silent night (Noapte de vis)" featuring the Concentus Choir adding harmonies, every other song is one to be played all year round.

Part recorded in a converted Transylvanian church, their big Phil Spectorish sound remains intact. The piano ballad (with gently chiming bells) "Cruel moon" tells the tale of a homeless man's hopelessness. More upbeat is "Please come back home", while the title track is a John Lennon-style piano ballad.

My favourite though is the blistering rocker "F**k you, it's over" with a chugging guitar riff similar to The Cranberries "Zombie" or "Hollywood". A tale about a relationship's rude ending at Christmastime. Awesome!

The only complaint I have is that the album is too brief, 6 songs clocking in at just 22 minutes. Still, it's much better than having an album one can't wait to end. A Christmas CD one can play all year long.
