One of the best cozies I have read in a long time, April 14, 2010
This review is from: Glazed Murder: A Donut Shop Mystery (Donut Shop Mysteries) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was soo good I really really enjoyed it. The setting was a nice town that I would like to visit if it were real. The heroine was very likable. Most of the characters were likable and all were believable. I liked the budding romance here too. This was a very satisfying read. Yummy yummy recipes had me running out for donuts lol. I would recommend this for anyone looking to start a new series as this is the first book in the series.

Donuts, Coffee, and Murder, May 16, 2010
This review is from: Glazed Murder: A Donut Shop Mystery (Donut Shop Mysteries) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you're in the mood for a light read, with mystery starting in the first paragraph, combined with humor and romance, GLAZED MURDER fits the bill. Suzanne Hart goes to work one morning and as she's opening her donut shop, someone dumps a dead body from their moving car. As she sees the disguised villian, he also sees her. Now it's a race to find out who the killer is before he decides she's a loose end which needs to be tied. The cast of characters include a helpful ex-cop, an overprotective mother, a best friend, an ex-husband who won't go away, and a possible new love interest. It's not heavy reading, but it's worth the time.

Donut miss this book, September 9, 2010
This review is from: Glazed Murder: A Donut Shop Mystery (Donut Shop Mysteries) (Mass Market Paperback)
Glazed Murder by Jessica Beck is the first in the Donut Shop Mystery series. Yes, just about every food establishment has a mystery series around it. I'm not sure what the appeal is, but I do like donuts.
This series follows the owner of Donut Hearts, Suzanne Hart. Suzanne bought the shop on a whim after her messy divorce from Max, an aspiring actor who is trying to win her back. Now she wakes up every morning around 1 a.m. to go to her shop and make donuts.
One early morning, she opens the shop, looks outside and sees a body being thrown from a vehicle. Turns out one of her regular customers was murdered and for some reason, the body was dumped on her doorstep. Unfortunately, Suzanne is now in danger because she is a witness to part of the crime. In an effort to protect herself and her shop, she sets out to investigate who might be involved. Along the way she meets Jake, a state police investigator, who offers her a romantic diversion.
Though this follows the standard cozy mystery formula, I really enjoyed the story and characters. however, everything wraps up very quickly at the end, and I would have liked to have more clues along the way. If you enjoy light mysteries and romance, this is a fun one to try!
