5.0 out of 5 stars Great Text August 1, 2008
This book has an excellent multi-learning style approach throughout it. There are supeb graphs, charts, information boxes, and other learning tools used in the text. The target audience seems to be high school students, but if you have never studied world history before, or if your familiarity with world history is not thorough and/or recently reviewed this would be a great place to start.

The text also approaches world history from the vantage point of manifold disciplines, which serves to both eliminate and complement the often-found drudgery which has been concomitant with this subject matter in past generations.

I am studying this text along with my daughter; she is taking world history as an independent study in order to test out of it this fall and clear her schedule for other classes she would like to fit into her schedule this year. She will be a high school sophmore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging Text September 22, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
My 90 year old mother-in-law actually read through this book before my daughter started using it. She thought it was the most interesting book on history that she has read in a long time. Each section begins with a guide to reading that includes: Main Idea, Key Terms, People to Identify, Places to Locate, Preview Questions, Reading, Strategy and Timeline Preview of Events. Glencoe provides links to each of their texts books that include online self-check quizes, student web activites, interactive tutor and my favorite, literature connections that relate to each time period being studied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Service was great! August 29, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Unfortunately, I bought the wrong book. I should have watched the ISBN# more carefully. Didn't think there would be huge difference in the newer version. Did have great service and the book was in the condition stated on initial description.
