Had high expectations for this device. Installed, and while my "klunk" was reduced (by about 1/3), the water hammer remained enough for me to yank this offline after a few days of aggravation. Ordered the Campbell QuietSump Check Valve instead and it's a night/day difference. The KCV is a flapper-close device, and as applied to my sump's verticle run (1/3 hp Zoeller, with a 7' rise), the hammering was just too loud for a flap-type check valve. Campbell's is spring-loaded and closes slower=less noise, if you can live with a small amount of water falling back into the sump basin. The KCV is great for my kitchen, however...but was just over-matched for a 1.5" sump application.

This is a standard check valve with a cylinder that is supposed to be a silencing chamber. Unfortunately, that chamber is just for looks, it does not stop the knocking (klunking) sound.

If you need a check valve that actually is silent look no further than 'Campbell Mfg Llc 1.5 Quietsump Chk Valve', it is cheaper, it actually works, it has a much higher build quality, and it is easier to install.
