5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Floss
I was looking for a replacement for the floss I had been using (Johnson & Johnson "Reach") because it shredded when pulled between my teeth which are close together. This is a common problem with a lot of brands of floss, especially the cheaper stuff. Even though the Glide is three to four times more expensive, I decided to give it a try and am very pleased I did. It...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not anything like the Gore procuct
Why is a popular product, the best one in the world that it's customers would pay a premium to buy, stomped out by Crest? Original Gore brand Glide was the best non-shredding floss out there. Crest's product - that lies and says this is the original glide - sheds just like any cheap brand. Oh I miss strong floss that does not shred.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the original, March 8, 2007

The "original" Glide was made by (or used) Gore Tex material. The photo for this product showed the logo for Gore Tex. The product shipped was the product now marketed by Crest; no mention of Gore Tex. The Crest product is vastly inferior to the "original" Gore Tex.

The smooth coating is not excellent any more, showing a gradual decline over the past 2-3 years. The exterior can be called as "in between smooth and rough".

This applies to the 100 meter dispenser also.

My belief is that they are now selling it, on its past good reputation.

Wow, I thought I was the only person with a resentment about dental floss. Guess not. I loved the old Glide, made by Gore (in Flagstaff, AZ). This is neither original Glide floss nor any good. I also very much miss the old Glide floss. Would appreciate referrals to any good, non-waxy, plain floss.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Floss, July 5, 2011
This review is from: Glide Dental Floss, Original, 54.6-Yard Dispenser (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
It simply works great. Its construction is more like a tiny tape and does easily "glide" through the tight spaces between my teeth and not a single shred, tear or problem. It is wax-coated, but does not feel "waxy" or leave wax residue. Also, since it does not shred, I will be able to use much shorter lengths, which offsets the increased cost. This product will definitely be something I will continue to buy and use in the future. As for the negative comments, it sounds like they are not talking about the same product and may have been confused by the multiple packages on display. I had to study them for a while. What I finally bought (July 2011 at Wal-Mart) was the single package (since I was in try-out mode) and it is labelled "New Look" "Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Original Floss" 54.6 yards. It is manufactured by P&G and apparently dropped the "Crest" branding and substituted Oral-B. As another reviewer pointed out, "Original" just means non-mint (I don't care for mint). So, examine the identification on the package carefully to make sure you are purchasing the correct product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, same as in the drug stores, great price, June 9, 2010
This review is from: Glide Dental Floss, Original, 54.6-Yard Dispenser (Pack of 6) (Health and Beauty)
Don't get the negative remarks, same Glide I find at Walgreens, CVS, elsewhere but a much better price. Gee, going to continue ordering these by the pack of 6, great deal and STILL a great product. "Original" SIMPLY means, not a mint or other flavor etc. etc. etc.
