It takes some fiddling around to get the balance just right, especially the first time while you're figuring out the hardware, but you CAN get it balanced.
Jeff Johnston
I hear the more you work with it the better it goes...I am using an HMC150, so that may be the problem.

ive spent alot of time looking for a steady cam kit, and this one does the trick quite good actually considering its price ;), it has its issues like :-

1 - it dosent work well with small camera's, like sony handcam's which the model that i bought this unit for, but once i added the lens kit it gained more wight which made it perfect for me.

2 - once your done with balancing it by adding more wight it becomes really heavy.

what i like about it : -

1 - it does the job its designed for, it makes ur shoots crazy steady, the review's on youtube are not just a hoaxes, its real.

2- its price is quite amazing considering what it does and how well it performs, i would've gone after the Tiffen Steadicam Merlin, only if this one wasn't way cheaper.

in overall, if the money is not a big deal to you, you should stick with Tiffen Steadicam Merlin, otherwise, and ur using a pro cam, this kit is greater, and it gets sweeter once you added the vest to it to overcome the heavy weight issue.

There are only couple of bad things about this item--- it does get heavy and it does take a little while to balance but once you get it down this thing is amazingly good. Believe every good thing you've read about it and snap it up because it's a great price. I got mine from Adorama camera for $370 so I think that's the price to beat.

I found this this really heavy. I was able to balance my Canon Mark ii 5d, with a 70mm-200mm lens on it; took about an hour. Spent another 4 hours walking around with it; I had trouble with drift; even the wind can cause camera drift, had very little usable footage. If you want to use this, and make shots like you see on you tube, you will need the body pod vest to stabilize, (unless of course, your feet don't touch the ground as you walk and you have arms like those guys that always seem to be in the gym looking at their biceps). I didn't realize this. . why they don't just say, you need the vest, in the item description is beyond me. Good luck, as for me, I am considering purchasing the vest, it would be fun and cool, but to shell out another $200? Is it worth $500+? Maybe I'll cancel my Comcast cable for 2 months, that will save me about $300!

Functions wonderfully. The only issue was that the attachment plate differed from what I expected and required more fussing with to fine-tune the balancing of the unit. Instead of turning screws which slide things around, the screws only loosen the plate and you have to push and pull the plate and then lock it back down. But having never used one of these before, I was able to shoot a short film well enough after a bit of practice and the results where exactly what I was after.

I like it, is a exelent attachment to give fluency to my videos, use it is learned rapidly, my council for those who are going to use it is that they exercise forearms and hands previusly.
