Product Description

Our Glo Germ Gel contains proven safe ingredients which simulate the presense of real germs, 5 micros in size. Glo Germ Gel will illuminate under UV light, showing where actual germs would reside. Our gel works best for demonstrations where frequent or numerous uses are required. Pump 1-2 strokes of gel on palms of hands and rub together, including bthe back of hands. Scrape fingernails on pals to "infect" germs under the nails. Place hands under a UV light to view the "germs." Follow with normal hand washing, then test again with UV light to inspect how well the hands were washed.

I purchased this for a 2nd grade science fair project. Glo Germ is kind of expensive, but my 7 year old wanted to be in the science fair, and I needed a simple experiment or demonstration that he could do. I also liked the fact that this got him excited about hand washing. My son tried to determine whether warm or cold water was more efficient for washing your hands. I think his results were inconclusive, but his display was the hit of the science fair. We covered a large box with a black cloth and brought a uv light. Some parents and kids applied the glo germ, washed their hands and came back to check if they'd done a good job. Other kids just wanted to rub it on and see their hands glow. His project had a lot of visitors, we had a lot of fun with this product, and my kids are now (slightly) better at handwashing!

I bought this with the "powder" version to see which would be better to use. I needed them for a project involving germs on hands. I was disappointed in the gel-version, as it didn't glow as well as the powder. I would recommend buying the powder over this gel product.

Glo-germ was used for my daughter's science experiment at school. It was very effective for an elementary school setting for showing kids how well to wash their hands with soap and water. The only drawback I found was that you always had to use the right amount which is difficult when kids are using it. Too much gel lotion created messy hands and lots of massaging to get rid of it. Too little gel lotion and the effect of "seeing the germs" was difficult. In general it was very successful.

My Girl Scout troop used this for our 2013 world thinking day event. It was easy to use and a very affective tool for teaching proper hand washing skills. Everyone really like it. We used it for a group of 65 girls and still have a little less than a bottle left. It is more of an educational tool than a toy. The little flashlight works with it, but not the long flat black light.

Used this for a science project for 1st and 2nd graders.

Great tool to show how proper hand washing is important. You really need a strong black light to see the glow though, so we made a dark box which helped view the "germs" in a bright classroom; just the black light wouldn't have shown up without it.

My classroom loved this!! We had them put it on at the begining of class and after other experiments were done we used the black light to see all the "germs". They used the sinks in the student bathrooms and then after used the black light to see what was left in those sinks. These kids I believe were temporary germaphobes.

The product came as advertised and the kids loved it for our experiments with germs. We had them apply it to their hands and then after about 15 minutes we used the blacklight to show how germs travel.

I really enjoyed this particular product because it really worked. For it to really be effective you need to let the product dry adequately before you use the UV light. I had my own UV light and it worked just fine. The product was wonderful and the children/teachers I used this on really loved the visual it gave. You really need to be in a very dimly lit area for the gel to work because if you use it in a classroom with the lights on, it will not show up as effectively. I recommend using a big shoebox with a cutout in the top for a dark representation. Would definitely use it again and recommend it to a friend. I only needed 1 bottle for 100 first grade children.
