Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Global knives are appreciated for their sleek, cutting-edge design and quality stainless-steel edges, and this 3-inch tomato knife proudly continues the Global tradition. The serrated edge cuts with striking efficiency, resulting in a neatly sliced tomato that doesn't spill its pulp all over the counter. The blade is constructed of ice-tempered and hardened stainless steel, and its edge stays sharp far longer than similar blades while resisting rust, stains, and corrosion. Put a Global knife in your hand and you'll notice its lightweight comfort and delightful balance, which is especially handy when slicing multiple tomatoes for a large gathering. The knife features thin blades and hollow handles, and it should fit in many (if not most) knife blocks. Hand washing is recommended. --Rivers Janssen

5.0 out of 5 stars Excessive, but excessively cool!, August 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Global 3-Inch Serrated Tomato Knife (Kitchen)
I admit, a high-end knife that is meant to cut only tomatoes seems like an excessive purchase. But I love mine! It effortlessly glides through delicate tomato skin without mushing the tomato into pulp. It's also great for other fruits and vegetables that have a thin but tough to cut skin, like figs or eggplant. A great addition to your Global arsenal, but do buy some a few of the multi-tasking knives first.

3.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Knife, Just Too Short for my Tomato, June 28, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Global 3-Inch Serrated Tomato Knife (Kitchen)
I am a big fan of Global knives. They are wonderfully balanced, expertly sharp, and heaven to hold. This knife is no exception. I have quite a collection, myself. However, to call this knife a "Tomato Knife," at only 3inches long, is nuts in my book; that is, of course, unless you're talking about cherry tomatoes! The knife does glide through the skin effortlessly, as another has said, and the meat of the tomato is certainly not a challenge for the knife, either. But it's so short that the knife can get hung-up down in the tomato when you're trying to cut through. I wondered about this, but I purchased it anyway. It's great on avacados: if you use it to cut them in half the long way, and then use the back of the knife to cross-cut the insides of the halves, then turn the halves inside out, and scrape out the little squares of the avacado meat. But if you really want a great serrated knife that's long enough to cut through tomatoes with ease and room to spare, get the Global 6-inch Serrated Utility Knife. It's a must have, anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Global 3-Inch Tomato Knife
I love Global knives and this one is no exception.
Though it is terrific for tomatoes, I like having a smaller
serrated knife for other slicing needs.
