razor sharp edge, cool look., December 26, 2003
This review is from: Global 3-Piece Chef's, Cook's and Paring Kitchen Knife Set (Kitchen)
i got these knives as a gift for my wife and she was very pleased. these are the sharpest knives we've ever had and they are fantastic. not that this would be a big reason for buying these knives, but they look great. if you have stainless steel appliances, these will fit right in, especially if you get global's stainless steel knife block. these knives are lighter than other brands so they are easier to use over longer periods without fatigue. balance is superb, making precise cuts easy and near-effortless. to minimize slip, the handles are dimpled. finally, these knives are seamless, which i like very much as this ensures that clean-up is complete (no crevices to promote bacteria growth). on the minus side, these knives have smaller handles compared to other brands so i would recommend trying them first before buying to make sure you can use them comfortably. you get what you pay for in cutlery so these high quality knives will cost more than cheap "throw-away" knives. but with proper care, these should last a long time. finally, global recommends that these knives be hand-washed only. if you want to throw your knives into the dishwasher, look elsewhere. we like these knives a lot and would highly recommend them to any aspiring cook. i hope this helps you with your buying decision. peace.

Keen, Klever, Kwick, Kitchen Ka-nives - GO GLOBAL!!!, July 1, 2004
This review is from: Global 3-Piece Chef's, Cook's and Paring Kitchen Knife Set (Kitchen)
I recently purchased a whole set of these knives after doing MUCH research on various brands, materials they are made of, and general sturdiness and price. My favorite is the Japanese Chefs Knife (ALSO CALLED SANTOKU) But I also love these three selections. If you are looking at purchasing ONLY ONE global knife I recommend the Santoku, but if you are looking at two, get this set! It is a STEAL! YES, Global cutlery is EXPENSIVE! But compared to Wustof or Henkels, these knives outshine, outsparkle, and outperform them by a longshot. Comparable in price with Wustof and Henkels, for just a bit more money you can own the GOOD STUFF! An acquaintence of mine owns an upscale restaurant and he just replaced ALL of his Wustof knives in the kitchen to these GLOBAL GREATS! Global knives are made of one, solid, sturdy, but amazingly light piece of steel. Very balanced also! No worrying about wood or plastic handles, tangs or rivets here, nor cleaning! They clean up like a breeze. I love my knives and I know they will last me a lifetime. If they break Global has a lifetime guarantee! Remember, my friends... You get what you pay for and these beautiful and professional knives are worth their weight in gold! SO... Go Global, my gourmet gastronomical babies!

Looking for a good home for my old Wusthofs, April 12, 2004
This review is from: Global 3-Piece Chef's, Cook's and Paring Kitchen Knife Set (Kitchen)
The only thing better than the way the Global knives cut is the way they look. I have been a diehard user of Wusthof Trident Gran Prix knives, but since I bought this set, I have stuck my Wusthofs in the drawer. The edge on the blades is phenomonal, and I have yet to use the ceramic stone I got with this set. I have decided to replace all of my old knives over the next few months.
