About the Author

Allison Carruth is Assistant Professor of English at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research focuses on contemporary American literature and media, the environmental humanities, food studies, and science and technology studies. She received her PhD from Stanford University.

Allison Carruth is a professor at UCLA where she teaches in the areas of contemporary literature, food writing / food politics, environmental studies, and art-science collaboration. Her book Global Appetites grew out of deep interests in food justice, urban agriculture, and local food movements of the last ten years. She has served as the Book Review Editor for Gastronomica: The Journal of Food and Culture and organizer of conferences on food sustainability, food justice, and seed politics. She currently is the Media Editor for Resilience: A Journal of the Environmental Humanities.
