You probably wouldn't believe it, July 19, 2008
This review is from: Global - The Cowsills (Audio CD)
When one thinks of great power pop the names of The Raspberries, Dwight Twilley, The Rubinoos, The Spongetones amid others would come to mind. If harmony is your thing, you're thinking Beach Boys, Bee Gees, CSN&Y, Beatles amongst the greats. But if you put together both of those and I told you this release by The Cowsills is the best combination of those 2 ingredients in the last 5-10 years YOU PROBABLY WOULD'NT BELIEVE IT, would you?
Well, pick this baby up and put on "She Said To Me", or "I Be Low" or "What About Love?" These songs would tear up the singles charts back in the day and slap the current generation of rock n' rollers upside the head with real hooks, muscular yet poppy playing and vocals that only a family band can pull off. The absolute topper on this seriously underherd gem is "Is It Any Wonder?" This was released years ago on Yellow Pills Vol.1 (the ultimate power pop sampler) and, in my estimation, looking back at 40 years of rock history, has vocals and harmonies almost unmatched since the heyday of The Beach Boys, not to mention a melody that will stick in your brain like peanut butter on the roof of your mouth.
If Amazon doesn't have this available, go to The Cowsills website to pick this diamond up. ----------AND GO THERE NOW. It will be money very well spent!

FAR More Than Nostalgia..., June 29, 2008
What began as a search for a small taste of nostalgia provided far more than I ever could have anticipated, with the 2008 version of The Cowsills. With a sound befitting The Byrds; ABBA; and perhaps most significantly Fleetwood Mac, The Cowsills are not merely capitalizing on their name and successes of 40+ years ago. After all these years, and despite the loss of a few of its members, I'm of the opinion that The Cowsills remain one of America's most talented families. Thanks for the memories... and the creation of a few new ones!
