4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a stylish storage alternative
I have 2 of these in the microfiber and am very happy with them. The fact that you receive two of the ottomans comes in handy since I use them as additional seating when I have guests over, two ottomans turns into 4 extra seats if need be (and 4 places to quickly put clutter). The storage functionality that they offer is an added bonus since I put blankets or toys in them...

The round one fits in the square one. The round one is the perfect height for an ottomon, the square is simply a bit too tall. I still use it, but it is not as comfortable as it should be. Second on the round one the top does not fit snuggly at all, it just kind of sits on top. Very easy to dislodge. Overall I would recommend them, but the problems make them an ok to good buy not a great buy.

The storage functionality that they offer is an added bonus since I put blankets or toys in them to help keep our living room a little more tidy. I purchased the other ottoman set last year for our family room/play room and still enjoy those (once the smell wore off) but find the fact that these both have storage a better alternative. I also like the nail head accent for our more formal living room.

These were a great buy. They match well with out black leather couch and have plenty of storage space inside for our purposes (magazines in one, and a whole collection of toys for our dog in the other). Also, they are much lower in price than a lot of similar sets, but still have great build quality and durability.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4* After 2nd Replacement -- Difficult Transaction, May 4, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I live in an apartment and sometimes need a footstool or extra seating for guests. I was searching for an ottoman at a good price, and the price, coupled with the positive reviews, made up my mind. I paid $32.99+$3.49 shipping. I liked the fact that you get 2 for 1. They both have storage, and you can hide away the extra one inside the other. I purchased the microfiber suede model in "buff". The color is a little darker than the picture on my monitor. The color is actually a dark beige or very light tan (warm, but with no orange tone).

Both are lined with non-woven, black fabric. The undersides of both ottoman lids have an inset of 1/2" thick solid wood (or particle board?) with black vinyl covering (faux mini-pebble leather), and can be flipped to serve as extra side tables.

The square ottoman: 17" square X 17" high. Top has about 1" of padding. Underside lid inset is approx. 14-1/8" square. Four plastic "feet": 1/2"H.
Has solid top and bottom, but NOT sides (only framing at corners). The sides have a layer of dense foam about 1/4" thick between the inner and outer fabrics.
About the square ottoman I received: I tried sitting on it, and it seemed very solid, but if I moved a little from side to side, I could feel movement in one direction, as much as 1/2" (I measured). It has "nailhead" trim which is placed horizontally about 1/2" down from the top edge of the bottom part of this unit. It is a brass-colored strip, with every 5th nailhead being an actual nail, and 4 faux nailheads in between (this type of trim seems out of place with the styling and is not my taste. I will probably replace it with a plain gold trim).

The round ottoman: 14" diameter X 14" high. Top has about 1-3/4" padding. Underside lid inset is 11" diameter. Four plastic "feet": 1/4"H.
Has solid top, bottom AND sides. It feels very solid to sit on. The top fabric is four pieces stitched together (making an "X"), and the seams are double top-stitched. The fabric on the base is also done in four pieces (seams are also double top-stitched).
On the round ottoman I received, the top cushion is wonky and very puckered at almost all the seams, and the side seams on the base all lean to one side.

I was attracted by the size, convenience and price. I thought I could put up with all the imperfections, considering the price, which was excellent, but it also arrived damaged. It is shipped in a lower grade of corrugated box (China import box), which was gouged during shipment, causing a 3/4" hole in the outer fabric of the square ottoman.

It is an excellent deal, but I will be returning this one for a replacement, and hope the next one arrives intact and with better workmanship on the smaller ottoman. I gave four stars based on price and convenience, but 3* would actually suffice, unless the replacement is better.

Update: I did return the ottomans, and got an undamaged replacement in only 2 days. However, the quality of the second one is WORSE than the original. I had toyed with the idea of making the repair on the first one myself, but figured I would get a better, undamaged set if I returned it. I wish I had stuck with my original idea. The second square ottoman is just as unstable as the first and has a stain on the top. The round ottoman is absolutely hideous. The stitching is puckered beyond belief, almost like shirring, and the top cushion is squashed down on one side because the fabric was pulled too tight. Even the stitching on the bottom of the round one is worse: the top edge is wavy all the way around and also badly puckered. It looks so ugly that I would have to hide it, and I would never use it for guests. And the smell is awful (I didn't notice any odor on the first one).

I think the sets sold at this price are most likely "seconds" and returned items and they should be described as such, and sold "as is" and defective. (Disappointed in Amazon for representing it as first quality.)

I returned the second set and quickly received a third set. The square ottoman is sturdier, but the round one is still very puckered on top, with some crooked seams, but is acceptable for the price (I used a steam iron on the top on a medium setting, and it took out most of the puckers). This set does not smell bad. Thanks to Amazon for making good on this deal, but it was frustrating.

4.0 out of 5 stars ottoman set, November 11, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Global Distinctions Nailhead Ottoman Set, Buff Microsuede I found them to be sturdy, the exact shade I needed and the right size since my room isn't really big. They can be put in a corner or be a nice side piece for my chair. Not too big so things accumulate, but big enough to get the unsightly out of the way or the seasonal throws. I'm glad I got them and have received many compliments on them.

I just received this item in Buff Microsuede. I love them! The two ottomans are the perfect size for my "smallish" living room. They make great extra seating or footrests and they hold allot of stuff. This is perfect when friends stop over unexpectantly. Great purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT QUALITY & PRICE, October 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are both sturdy and attractive and well made. The price is excellent compared to other similar items. I am very happy with them & might also say the color shows true, I picked the lighter color, & the studs are a nice finishing touch too. Would definitely recommend them and they were shipped quickly :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Your won't find better at this price! Love them!, January 9, 2009
I'd been looking for a storage solution for the kid's toys for quite a while, when I stumbled upon these for a bargain on Amazon. I wanted a few boxes/ baskets to line the wall in our play area.
I wasn't sure if they'd do the trick, but I went ahead and ordered one set in chocolate pleather. I figured at that price, if it didn't work out I'd find another use for them.

When they arrived I was thrilled- as were the kids. They took great delight in playing hide and go seek in the big one and climbing in and out of the little one. I went ahead and ordered two more and they arrived 3 days later. I am very happy with them.

The brown is very dark, almost black. They're pretty soft and the stitching is even and tight. The nailhead element on the big one is a nice touch, although it's not individual nails, it's strips of them, but it gives the same effect. Note from the pictures, if you order black, the nailheads come in silver. Order in brown, and you'll get gold accents.

I have three lined up together to create a 'bench' effect.(See pictures above.) If you need extra seating, these are a winner. I flip the middle lid on my 'bench' and it works as a tray flanked by two seats.

We keep the three smaller ones in the living room to serve their true purpose. They make a fantastic hiding place for the random toys that end up scattered all over the room each evening.

(If you have kids and order a few like I did, here's an idea. We line up all of them randomly and create an obstacle course. Our two year old has a brilliant time clambering from one to the next! Make sure the small ones have some weight in them first though...)

These ottomans are alluring to people great and small. Children love to explore them and adults want to know where to find such a versatile storage solution.

If you are looking for heirloom quality, you might want to look further, but these are fabulous in their versatility. They are very forgiving of all the abuse they receive. A quick wipe-down and they're up to snuff.
They had no smell I could fathom other than that 'new' smell.

As an aside, I also got one of the Global Distinctions 'Buy one get one Free Inside Ottoman with Tray' sets- the one with the square inner ottoman. It came with deathly pong of petrol. If you are considering mix and matching that set with this, know that the dimensions are different. The (gasoline)tray set is taller and a little narrower. The small inner square ottoman is very light, with no storage. It's air thin, you could say. This might be a better buy for someone with arthritis or someone with more limited mobility. The outer ottoman is very tidy looking, and the tray is well fitted and sturdy. Hope this helps!

In summary, you can't beat this highly functional, nice looking ottoman set. I got ample storage, seating for six, climbing frames for the kids and a spot to rest my feet at night for a great price! Go for it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Pet Hair Magnets!!!, January 22, 2009
I just recieved two sets of these chocolate microsuede ottomans today & was very happy with them.. for about 30 minutes. Then I realized I should've gotten the faux leather brown set because mine were COVERED in pet hair. FYI: If you have pets, these might not be a great choice for you either! I have vacuumed them & used a lint roller on them 3 times already & somehow they keep attracting any loose pet hair in the room! (And I vacuumed the WHOLE room just to try to eliminate this from happening!)
I would gladly return them & order the other set, but I called & it will cost me too much to return both of these sets (almost $20) & reorder the other set. So, unfortunately, I will have to make the most of my failed attempt to "neaten-up" my living room! I guess lint rollers in bulk will be my next purchase!
Other than the pet hair attraction, these are great for the price!
They hold a lot of my son's toys, will add much needed seating to my living room & they are actually really sturdy & nice looking! (Minus the hair that is!)
I hope this helps someone else to make a better choice than I did! :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid and Functional, but lacks a Finished Quality, December 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
At first, I was impressed by the Global Distinctions Nailhead Ottoman Set (Buff Microsuede). They seemed to be well built and very sturdy. Most ottomans feel very weak when you use them as seating, but you could tell that these had a solid frame to them. The design and overall look of them was excellent. There is plenty of storage inside and they are the perfect size to keep in a corner or bring out into a room if additional seating is needed.

The reason I gave them 3 stars was due to the finished quality. I noticed a good bit of fraying along the bottom and edges. There were also some marks on the ottomans themselves. I'm sure this isn't the case on every one of their products, but the seams had to many threads loose or coming out for me to keep this item. It was returned.
