John Boal's BE A GLOBAL FORCE OF ONE is one of the best resources I have ever found for community service learning projects. As a teacher of CSL, it's important to know what other projects are going on and how to modify them to fit your own school, agency, or club's needs. This should be used as a regular textbook in any formal CSL program on either the middle or high school level--it is in my program!

This is an excellent resource for those who already volunteer or want to and don't know exactly where to start. Even if you don't volunteer with any of these 202 examples, you'll certainly be inspired to find your niche to help others. The contact information about each group is very helpful. John's last chapter, 20-point Front-End Alignment" was an added bonus of inspiration.

I'm a retired manager from one of the major automakers. The business community has changed greatly over the past 35 years and has become more socially conscious. A Global Force of one provides practical and feasible ideas to implement projects with meaningful results.The bigger the company the harder it is to implement company wide programs this books shows how individual plants and offices can make a difference. Easy to read and well organized it can be read and re-read almost anywhere. I recommend this book to all management trainee's and middle managers.

I teach a social problems course at a large urban community college where practicality is of the essence in designing a course syllabus. This text introduces students to practical, exciting ideas for combatting the social problems of our communities and is a touchstone for a generation of young people entering society with a desire to do something worthwhile with their lives. I highly recommend this book for teachers, parents, and those interested in persoanl growth.

A great source of information, and resources to connect up with others and to help and assist "our planet" become a safer and kinder place in which to live. John has spent many hours in collecting this information which is now placed at our very fingertips in an easy to read and find format. Thanks John for those countless "unsung hours" you spent in researching all these wonderful groups who do so many great things for our world and for others everyday. Continued good luck in your pilgrimage to "connect up" this crazy, and choatic world of ours. We need more people like you, and more books like these.

This book was chosen for a special leadership course for junior engineers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute because we wanted the students to be introduced through case studies to the seemingly countless different ways they too could be a global force of one in their hometowns, or, indeed, any town!

Most of us want to do something good for others, but just don't know where to begin. This book offers ideas for all kinds of people who want to devote a little time or a lot of time to helping out the community. The programs are great starters for groups everywhere who want to get involved!!

I was in on the early stages of this book and was impressed with John's dedication and determination. He put his heart and soul into this project and it shows. So, you want to be a part of "the solution," but you don't know what to do? This is the book for you. Whether you are in business, a member of a community group or an individual, this book is an excellent resource of ideas that you can implement to help make this a better world. Do you want to do something about reducing the crime rate, help young people, work with animals? It doesn't matter what you do, just do something and John's book has some great suggestions of things that have already worked. Thank you John for your commitment!

BE A GLOBAL FORCE OF ONE! is a great resource to help turn our THOUGHTS of wanting to do something positive into DOING something positive. The 202 ways listed in the book provide ready-to-use ideas that can be begun NOW. We can contact people who have actually been putting an idea into action.

It is often easier to adapt an idea rather than think it up in the first place. When we want to contribute our time, money, influence, ideas and/or resources to help others -- there is something in this book to get us started. This book is actually a powerful force of one in itself. Choose your level and type of commitment and BEGIN!
