5.0 out of 5 stars razor sharp edge, cool look.
i got these knives as a gift for my wife and she was very pleased. these are the sharpest knives we've ever had and they are fantastic. not that this would be a big reason for buying these knives, but they look great. if you have stainless steel appliances, these will fit right in, especially if you get global's stainless steel knife block. these knives are lighter...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not comfortable in my hand.
While these knives are very sharp and they do cut well, they are very uncomfortable in my hand. I find myself reaching for the more comfortable knives that are less sharp. They would be great if the handles were more ergonomic. I would not recommend this knife set.

i got these knives as a gift for my wife and she was very pleased. these are the sharpest knives we've ever had and they are fantastic. not that this would be a big reason for buying these knives, but they look great. if you have stainless steel appliances, these will fit right in, especially if you get global's stainless steel knife block. these knives are lighter than other brands so they are easier to use over longer periods without fatigue. balance is superb, making precise cuts easy and near-effortless. to minimize slip, the handles are dimpled. finally, these knives are seamless, which i like very much as this ensures that clean-up is complete (no crevices to promote bacteria growth).

on the minus side, these knives have smaller handles compared to other brands so i would recommend trying them first before buying to make sure you can use them comfortably. you get what you pay for in cutlery so these high quality knives will cost more than cheap "throw-away" knives. but with proper care, these should last a long time. finally, global recommends that these knives be hand-washed only. if you want to throw your knives into the dishwasher, look elsewhere.

we like these knives a lot and would highly recommend them to any aspiring cook.

i hope this helps you with your buying decision. peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keen, Klever, Kwick, Kitchen Ka-nives - GO GLOBAL!!!, July 1, 2004
This review is from: Global G-237 - 3 Piece Kitchen Knife set with Chef's, Utility and Paring Knives (Kitchen)
I recently purchased a whole set of these knives after doing MUCH research on various
brands, materials they are made of, and general sturdiness and price. My favorite is the Japanese Chefs Knife (ALSO CALLED SANTOKU) But I also love these three selections. If you are looking at purchasing ONLY ONE global knife I recommend the Santoku, but if you are looking at two, get this set! It is a STEAL!

YES, Global cutlery is EXPENSIVE! But compared to Wustof or Henkels, these knives
outshine, outsparkle, and outperform them by a longshot. Comparable in price with Wustof
and Henkels, for just a bit more money you can own the GOOD STUFF! An acquaintence of mine owns an upscale restaurant and he just replaced ALL of his Wustof knives in the kitchen to these GLOBAL GREATS!

Global knives are made of one, solid, sturdy, but amazingly light piece of steel. Very
balanced also! No worrying about wood or plastic handles, tangs or rivets here, nor
cleaning! They clean up like a breeze.

I love my knives and I know they will last me a lifetime. If they break Global has a lifetime guarantee!

Remember, my friends... You get what
you pay for and these beautiful and professional knives are worth their weight in gold! SO... Go Global, my gourmet gastronomical babies!

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for a good home for my old Wusthofs, April 12, 2004

The only thing better than the way the Global knives cut is the way they look. I have been a diehard user of Wusthof Trident Gran Prix knives, but since I bought this set, I have stuck my Wusthofs in the drawer.

The edge on the blades is phenomonal, and I have yet to use the ceramic stone I got with this set. I have decided to replace all of my old knives over the next few months.

If you have limited resources for buying knives, I recommend you start with the Global 3-piece set. I own a complete set of Wusthofs and grew up using Sabatier knives. Global knives are better than both of those brands. They are extremely sharp and they keep their edge for a long time between sharpenings. Good knives are an investment which pay out in the long run. You can buy a cheap set and replace it in 2 or 3 years or buy a good set of Globals and have them last forever with proper treatment.

5.0 out of 5 stars These are really wonderful knives!, January 19, 2005
This review is from: Global G-237 - 3 Piece Kitchen Knife set with Chef's, Utility and Paring Knives (Kitchen)
They are the best I have used, they stay sharp for a very long time and a couple minutes with the global sharpener brings them right back when they finally go dull. Really, they make chopping fun. Only sharpen with global sharpeners or guides. I bought my mother in law a set and someone at her home sharpened them with a regular sharpener. Now they are just like other knives. Probably have to send them back to Global to regrind the blade angle or sharpen a few times with the proper sharpener. No one touches MY global knives!!! Honestly, I can't find anything I don't like about these knives. They fit my hand great, they stay sharp for months, they are light in weight, they are easy to sharpen (with the proper sharpener).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Global Knives, December 27, 2003

We already had a Global Chef Knife when we got this 3 piece set last Christmas. We tried Global after buying a dissappointing Henkel. We are now diehard Global fans. When I visit people's homes and they have dull knives, I am further in love with my Global. It makes such a difference to have a good knife when cooking! Pay bon marche bon!

5.0 out of 5 stars We look for any excuse to use them, December 27, 2003
This review is from: Global G-237 - 3 Piece Kitchen Knife set with Chef's, Utility and Paring Knives (Kitchen)
This may be a repeat of what you have already read, but these are by far the best knives that I have ever used. My wife and I started out with a Sabatier starter set (Chefstar), and the set was great, especially for the price. About a year later we got this set as a gift, and we literally look for reasons to cut food. These knives, along with an awesome set of cookware, are a wonderful cattleprod to direct anyone into cooking more at home.
Cutting meat is like passing the blade through water.
You know that the construction is solid. There are no joints in the knife at all.
Finally, the design of the knives goes quite well if you use a lot of stainless steel in your kitchen.
Just to beat a dead horse, these knives are the closest to the Platonic ideal of anything we own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Global, you have done it!, October 30, 2001
This review is from: Global G-237 - 3 Piece Kitchen Knife set with Chef's, Utility and Paring Knives (Kitchen)
Want to see how great these are, well you just have to own one to know that Global is leading the knife industry with their look and quality. Global is hand in hand with Wüsthof. Great chefs around the world use Global and more and more cooking schools are recommending students to buy it. Perfection and quality is what Global is all about. I really like the look of the knives, pretty cool. You won't go wrong, just remember to get the sharpening tools to go with it. These knives will last you a lifetime! Way to go Global!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sharp Knives, December 19, 2003

This set is great. My wife and I decided we would start our Global collection with this set, then slowly add more pieces later when we figure out which ones we want. These knives are really sharp. I sliced a finger on one hand and got a nick on the other hand while trying to clean up the mess.

I got my first two global knives as a wedding present more than a dozen years ago and today they're still just like new. Originally I was turned on by their looks, particularly their handles which seemed to fit my, small, hand much better than any others I'd tried and I've always collected good knives. Since then I've expanded my globals to over twenty, including a few steak knife sets, and I even take some with me when traveling abroad for more than a week or two. Easily hand washed and maintained: I have them professionally sharpened annually, they remain like new. I've never been tempted to replace them with anything else. If you love to cook, you'll really love doing it with the help of good knives.
