Although I didn't buy this set of Global Knives at Amazon, I really want to write a review about how awesome they are! These knives are good, beyond good, possibly some of the worlds best knives available. Are they costly? Yes. Are they worth it? Every penny! I had wanted a Global knife for years, so when this set was available for a discounted price, I jumped at the chance to finally own a Global product. I had read many reviews of their knives and knew this was the brand I wanted to invest in. And yes, it is an investment, but a wise one! If you love to cook you know the need for quality knives. These are perfect in all respects. Perfect balance, perfect blade, perfect sharpness, and they look like a piece of kitchen art. The Japanese have been producing some of the best blades for centuries. Global knives are produced out of the best steel available. From their website:

"GLOBAL knives are made from the finest stainless steel material. The blades utilize CROMOVA 18 stainless steel, Ice tempered and hardened to Rockwell C56°-58°which holds a razor sharp edge longer than any other steel and resists rust, stains and corrosion."

I have used these knives for about a month now and haven't cut myself yet :) That is the only negative thing I have to say, and it's not even negative! These knives are sharp! And I mean SHARP! So sharp that I have heard even if you barely knick yourself, you will bleed. So be careful. These knives are definitely not for a novice cook or a young person. And you need to use a blade guard for storage unless you have a knife block. That will protect your fingers and the knife blades. Hand wash also. That is the safest and will protect the blade. Global knives are unique in their design and I was concerned about the handle being metal, and therefore slippery. No problem. They fit in your hand so well that you have total control. And no seams to hold bacteria. If you can only own one knife...make it a Global. You won't be disappointed.
