If you consider soccer a way-of-life, rather than just a sport, you MUST read this book. And if you don't, you MUST STILL read this book. It should be required reading material for all of the soccer-moms and soccer-dads of the world. It brings the passion of the sport to life; from the fans' perspective, the community's perspective, the players' perspective, and the coaches' perspective. It is a thoroughly-researched book. The short introductions to each chapter provide a historical and often entertaining look into the politics of soccer. The short stories and poems that make up each chapter are masterpieces. John Turnbull and the other editors have done a masterful job in creating what I feel is the best book on soccer ever written.
