The Global Groove we know and love is BACK!, May 4, 2001

Just when the Global Groove series was becoming *really* good (January 2000), Centaur Music changed the whole packaging and the direction in February 2001 with a new cover boy (goodbye, Brandon, you *will* be missed) and a whole new sound. Susan Morabito took the helm that month with "Global Groove: The New Groove" and what we got was a crappy snorefest of monumental proportions.
Fortunately, the good folks at Centaur must have heard our collective grumbling and quickly rescued the series by making their next release, "A Deeper Heart", a Tony Moran mix. Not that I'm a Tony Moran fan per se, but at least this mix gives Global groove fans what they want: great VOCAL songs with incredible hooks...none of that endless tribal drumming that lasts a quarter of an hour and goes nowhere.
In this mix, Tony gives us a couple of latin-tinged percussion-driven instrumentals (usually not my thing, but these are good). "I Feel For You" by Bob Sinclair has a pretty memory-invoking Cerrone hook that I just can't place (darn!) and "Nothingness" by Karmadelic is a flat-out kick-butt disco song if I've ever heard one -- you *will* be hitting the repeat button on this one! The Plasmic Honey mix of "Let The Music Play" by Shannon is included to really bring down the house as is Tony's own remix of Sa-Fire's "Don't Break My Heart". These two songs prove how a classic can be improved by the right mix...gone are the days when songs were dragged kicking and screaming onto a generic house drum tracks. The only track I could have done without is "Papa's Got A Brand New Pig Bag" by Thunderpuss: there's nothing wrong with it per se but it seems out of place in this otherwise excellent collection.
Can Centaur keep Global Groove in the groove? Let's hope so. The next title in the series, "Feel My Drums" is due shortly so we'll see. Don't disappoint us!

yet another uninspired Moran set on Global groove, June 6, 2005

A great remixer who has some great mix CDs on the market as well, yet never seems to deliver with this Global Groove series. In this mix, Moran begins with an instrumental, then moves to a bouncy house track before moving into the harder sound of Sandy B's "Nothingness," in a short length. A couple of progressive tracks follow, including the Divine vocal sample from Native Love for "satisfied." The Plasmic Honey mix of Shannon is reason enough to get this compilation if you don't have her CD single...but you really should have it. Some of the best instrumental tracks on here are also the most overexposed-Thunderpuss's Papa's got a brand New Bag, Massiv's Who Am I. Tony Moran's thumping mix of Sa-Fire's classic "Don't break My Heart is another reason to have this disc-but again, you really should have the full CD single if you're a dance collector! There's a light but pretty (and very long) mix of the oldie but goodie "everytime" by Lustral, and finally, a good, but short, instrumental. Seems Tony Moran's mixes for the Global groove series are heavy on the filler. Track times are:
