4.0 out of 5 stars Great but requires maintenance
We have used this product for our young daughter's hearing aids for 2 years. It has been great. It removes moisture extremely well. When I remove the hearing aids after a 'cycle' they are so dry that any small amount of wax just flakes right off. She has never had an ear infection and has never had a problem with her hearing aids functioning. Once she dropped them...

I purchased this drier from my local audiologist. I've had problems from the beginning with it. You have to make sure the lightbulb is sitting exactly right or the unit won't turn on. I returned the first two I had while still under warranty but now I'm looking at replacing this pricey unit with my own money. It also uses bricks which are expensive. This is supposed...

Once she dropped them into the bathtub and I immediately put them in the D&S and they were good as new when I took them out. We also use it to store her FM boots. It even saved one of our cell phones when it got wet. :)
Now, the bad - you have to purchase the bricks of dessicant - for us they seem to last quite a while and the fan helps dry out the hearing aids even if the dessicant is old. Secondly, the unit itself has 'broken' before - but the company fixed it and returned it to us. We are now having another problem with the unit starting and I am wondering if I need to buy a new one or if it is covered under warranty.

Bottom line: it's a GREAT product but requires the purchase of non-rechargeable dessicants. we seem to have had some functioning problems but not sure if this is indicative of all dry & stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars huh? what ya say?, January 27, 2009

I have had this for several months now and have had no problem with it at all. True, you do have to replace the Desiccant brick every couple of months which is less than $30 a year. I also noticed that battery life is extended a day or 2 more than before I started using this. During the summer I would have problems with intermittent operation due to perspiration but this pretty much solved that problem. Considering the cost of good digital hearing aids, I think this is an excellent investment that improved my overall hearing aid experience.

I am a 33 year old career firefighter. I am very tough on my hearing aids. I subject them to temperature and humidity extremes. I am not much nicer to them when I am not at work, whether it be working outside in the yard, or having fun. The Dry and Store Global II was recommended by a friend of mine who's son keeps his cochlear implant modules in one at night.

It has been the BEST single purchase I have made in caring for my expensive hearing instruments.

Hearing instrument by their very nature are expensive. I am perfectly happy to spend a couple bucks each month on the little desiccant bricks to take care of them. These even have a little indicator to tell you when they need replaced.

This unit even has a UV light to aid in de-germing the hearing aids each time you put them in to sleep.

I would highly recommend this item to anyone who has hearing instruments.

This is supposed to be the best hearing aid drier on the market but I think it has a faulty design. I'm looking for something more reliable!

3.0 out of 5 stars hearing aid dryer, May 21, 2010

I've purchased 3 such boxes from Dry & Store over the years. This one is the best of them. It runs very quietly--according to my husband, with perfect hearing. The indicator light on the lid is very tiny, so the ambient light is minimal and it goes out after approximately 20 minutes (the first stage of the conditioning process).

The lid is a tad difficult to open after the process is complete, which I hypothesize is due to the heat generated inside the unit creating a little bit of a seal. No big deal, just an annoyance.

The down side to these type of boxes are the high costs of the replacement bricks. Because of the shape of the brick, you are stuck with purchasing a certain brand and Amazon has been the least expensive place I've found to purchase the bricks.

I was having a terrible time with moisture shorting out my hearing aids. This would cause a loss of amplitude or a crackling sound and eventually lead to failure. After several repairs I started looking for a new hearing aide solution. I mentiond this problem to the tech from Sieman's and he recommended Dry and Store, not a problem since.

This is the second of these units I have purchased. They both work great, however the first one failed after about 3 years. There is a flexible electrical cable that goes to the hinging lid and this cracked and failed on the first unit. If I had to guess, I'd say the UV light that does the sterilization caused premature plastic failure.

I had a model of this bought several years ago. Just replaced it with this new model. It functions very well and takes up much less room. I am totally pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved us thousands of dollars, February 14, 2010
This review is from: Dry and Store Global II Electric Hearing Aid Dehumidifier TRG-AA
My son has hearing aids and they broke every 6 months. We were coming up to the end of our warrant and they had broken for the four times with humidity caused failure. I looked on-line and found this product and bought it. The hearing aids have not broken once in 3 years.

The drier that we got with the hearing aids was just a heater. I told the doctor about this and she has started to recommend it.

i really like the new design of the dry and store. the light is in the bottom part instead of the lid. when the light bulb was in the lid, i would have to reseat it every nite to have the bulb work. the new design works like a charm.

i don't like the new desiccants they have designed to go into it. there is no indicator anymore that the charcoal has been activated other than writing the date on it. before, there was a red strip that would show when it was becoming ineffective, and initially, you would press the top to activate the charcoal. don't understand or trust that the charcoal hasn't already been activated when i start it and no assurance that it is really working.
